Good deal but before you buy, check on just replacing the broken parts Good price -- 1/2 what the local stores usually want for it. All the right parts in all the right places. This valve breaks way too often so recommend saving the parts from each so you can piece together replacements in future. Unfortunately, its the collar that breaks 75% of the time so this only works a little bit... but you can sometimes find the collar alone for $5 or $6. Genuine parts at a fraction of the cost at local pool stores What a difference a new back up valve makes. Our sweeper, we call him Scooter, was slowing down and getting hung up on his own line. I had adjusted just about everything else when I read the back up valve can fill with water after several years. Of course that extra weight would throw off Scooter's ability to maneuver.I bought this replacement and it's working better than ever. The pool stores in town charged double and triple for this part.

Full Back-up Valve Works Great I was having so much trouble with my Polaris pool vac. What amazed me in the end is that I had so-called experienced pool people looking at it working--my pool maintanence man said it was working fine, when it was tilting and floating and going sideways and skipping parts of the pool. Fixed the cleaner! My cleaner had not been working well; it turned out that the old reversing valve did not shut off totally when it was not reversing, so some of the water that would have been sent to the Polaris never got there. Replacing this fixed it, and a followup replacement of the feed hose made my 10+ year old Polaris work like new again. I'm a happy camper, and it was this valve that got everything good again.
I gave it 5 stars because it did what it was meant to do. This part is easy to install and if you are D I Y'rs like us you'll be happy that your pool vac is quite quickly back to working condition again (that is if this is the only thing that needs replacing)! This pressure valve is a small piece that attaches to the hose but it's very crucial to the Polaris' function to efficiently propel the unit around the pool bottom.
Expensive but much cheaper than at store After 10 or so years my back up valve casing broke. I went to Leslie's and bought a new one for $90 because I wanted to replace it before leaving on vacation. However, after getting home I thought I should wait and check online. I found this, the exact same product, for $50 with free shipping. Fantastic product and thanks to Amazon Reviewers Thank you all.My Polaris cleaner stopped moving, and the tail didn't wiggle. It is five years old and I thought it has reached planned obsolescence. Then I read the reviews and wanted to give a replacement valve a chance.Guess what, it works! Repair yourself / Pool stores will rip you off! Inherited polaris 280 with the purchase of my home/pool, didn't work that well so pool guy took it to the shop and rebuilt ($400) and it still didn't work that great in my opinion but what do i know - pretty new to having a pool. a year later bought this thing and now the Polaris works better then ever, little did i know these things fail / malfunction regularly, wish i did research before getting ripped off by pool peeps.
