About this business

Polaris G52 Back-up Valve Assembly. This is a factory original Polaris replacement back up valve. It has a timer mechanism inside that diverts water out of a jet every 5-10 minutes. This jet acts as a back up, pulling the cleaner out from the pool floor or wall. There is an arrow on one side of the hose barb that should face towards the cleaner. It is designed to go inline on the hose 5-6 feet back from the head of the unit. This back-up valve kit is designed to use with Zodiac Polaris pool cleaner models 180, 380, 280 and ... read more

Lasted 2 years This unit lasted 2 years before the case split open. The previous unit lasted 4 years before the valve failed. These are a bit pricey, so for the replacement I will try one of the cheaper replacements.

Use Genuine Polaris Parts This is a lesson is getting what you pay for. The gearbox on my original back up valve got jammed up with sand after about a season and a half. I purchased a replacement from my local pool store wanting to shop local. This jammed up after about two months. So I purchased another one, which is when I realized my pool shop was selling me Chinese replacements for Polaris prices. So I came to Amazon and purchased Chinese replacements for Chinese replacement prices. These would last for a month or two, w... read more

Time will tell. Purchased this backup valve to replace one installed last summer. That valve failed long before it should have. Only time will tell if this new valve will last longer than the previous one. Both were made in China so don't set your expectations too high for durability.

Failed after 75 days, just like the non-Polaris units Just like everyone else I've been disappointed by the the knockoff valves dying after only a few months so I thought I'd try this genuine Polaris backup valve from the Polaris store. It lasted 75 days running 4 hours a day. It failed in the same spot that the rest of them fail - the bearing of the turbine wheel opposite the end with the gear on it. It slowly wears through the plastic "bearing" until the turbine wheels can no longer turn, then the turbine wheel locks in pl... read more
