Polaris G52 Back-up Valve Assembly. This is a factory original Polaris replacement back up valve. It has a timer mechanism inside that diverts water out of a jet every 5-10 minutes. This jet acts as a back up, pulling the cleaner out from the pool floor or wall. There is an arrow on one side of the hose barb that should face towards the cleaner. idiot proof installation idiot proof installation it goes on one direction and you tighten it down using the hose clamp/nuts. thats it. kind of pricey considering what typically breaks on it which is the outer housing. unfortunately you cant just replace the outer housing (even if the inner mechanism is perfect so you get the honor of paying for replacing working components as well as broken components. but hey you dont really get a choice in the matter.

Always go OEM Chose an OEM replacement. The original Polaris backup valve lasted over 19 years.

SUPERB PURCHASE I put this on my Polaris in my pool and the Polaris works better than it ever has worked. The last two back up valves have been knock offs and somehow they allowed my Polaris hose to tangled up over and over. Since I install this original equipment back up valve the entire function of the Polaris has been enhanced. The price of this original equipment product was approximately three times the knock off products. In this case, it was money well spent.

Lasted 2 years This unit lasted 2 years before the case split open. The previous unit lasted 4 years before the valve failed. These are a bit pricey, so for the replacement I will try one of the cheaper replacements.
