Didn't want to risk buying a knockoff My Polaris pool sweep is back to working great after replacing my broken backup valve. I considered buying a knockoff backup valve for half the price but decided not to based on reviews I read. I don't know if I made the right decision but it works now. What I don't like is that the plastic body on the backup valve always cracks in the same place in the same way and no one has fixed this defect.
Not the same quality I realize supply is an issue, but disappointed in this replacement valve. It does not work consistently and I’m often having to rescue the Polaris because it is stuck. The quality is just not the same.
Name brand version much better than generic brand Prior to replacing the backup valve with this Polaris one, the generic brand backup valve consistently pushed the pool cleaner hose over our negative edge pool wall - no matter how I tried to adjust it or the hose pressure. Broke withon a yearof purchase It split apart after only one year. (Housing broke at the threaded seem joining the two assemblies together) I am going to buy one more and hopefully it will not fail.
Received an actual genuine Polaris part Good luck to everyone trying to figure out which pool parts and sellers are genuine, OEM. Just wanted to share that I received a genuine Polaris part in the original bag and with both connections values stamped.

Worked great once we got it installed. Working great so far. We’ve only had it installed about a week. It made a big difference in the performance of our Polaris since our old valve just hung down and did not float anymore. As soon as this new valve we installed, the Polaris started climbing the walls again ! It took a bit of muscle to install. We ended up getting the hairdryer to warm up our hose to help with installation.
Genuine Part - Polaris replacement Back Up Valve This is the OEM backup valve. It's a few dollars more than the knock-offs, but trust me, save yourself the heartache of those other brands failing or not working properly at all. I've made the mistake of trying to save $ on this item and it has NEVER paid off. This valve works great!
Did not last 4 mths. Bought Mar 1st and it cracked open this week. Quality appeared good. It could be overall design flaw and the chlorine environment. It could also be due to pool surface texture. I will keep a backup on hand from now on as they do not last like my original.
