So much better than the battery-operated model! After being very disappointed with a Brother label maker that used up batteries way too quickly and was confusing to use, this one is perfect! It plugs into my laptop (needs electric power as well) and uses my keyboard/functions. No software required!

A good, inexpensive label maker... I have been using this for over three years without any problems. Rather than repeat the information here, you should read the reviews which tell you how to avoid wasting tape...they'll save you a lot of money. If you're going to print a lot of labels, you also should purchase the external power block. This printer burns through batteries at an amazing rate, and with six batteries per refill, gets expensive fast. Love it but........ This hummer does rock. Installed it on an old antique XP machine and could not get the native functionality to work - blame the IT cooking at work for that. Installed the software, ROCK-ON life is simple. Turn it off when rebooting so the IT guy's mapping of network drives works and all is cool there. Only thing is the 1/2 inch "spit" that it does before each label. Just Perfect This is a very easy to install and use product and I am very satisfied. If you just want a simple label maker then this product is for you. I use it with anything that I can put a label on, except for clothes because there's a specific label maker for that, otherwise it stick anywhere, very clean looking and professional too.
Great printer, but power supply is weird. The printer is nice, compact, works fine, but has a major problem with power. You either have to use batteries, or external AC adapter. Device does not powers from USB. And the problem with external AC adapter is that it uses reversed pins and 7.5V voltage, which may be not easily obtainable at cheap side. I found that power adapter for certain Panasonic DECT phones works fine with this printer, and can be obtained for much cheaper, than the original Brother AC adapter.
No AC adaptor or batteries included Looks like a good product, but I havent been able to actually use it because it does not come with the AC adaptor or batteries. Price for the AC adaptor in the incuded material lists at 26.99 which seems a little steep, figured that the product would be functional out of the box. Guess I should have checked into it a little more
The coolest thing I've purchased form amazon in a while! Great little label maker. Doesn't take up too much space, you can plug it directly into the USB port on your computer and create labels using any font/symbols/etc. that you have access to on your computer. Good variety and quality of label tapes available. I have owned this since April 2011 and it has given me no troubles and my labels are still stuck where I put them and are looking good. :)
Easy to use even before you read the directions I really like my label maker. This Brother PC-Connectable Label Maker(PT-1230PC) is really easy to use. I am guilty of using products before I look at the directions. Yes, I am one of those. This product was designed with people like me in mind. I loved the fact that I could put in tape and batteries, connect the USB to my computer, click on the one icon that was in color, type and then print out really nice labels before I even pulled directions out of the box.
