Brother P-touch a Bust This P Touch was very unsatisfactory. I had one just like it in the past and it was great! This one did not work with my PC, though the former one did perfectly. I returned it.
Lower than claimed 180dpi resolution.. actually is 60dpi. The printer does work really well for most things. However it's true resolution thru my testing (engineer) is only 60 dpi and not the claimed 180 dpi. I've tried the included program and even written some code. It looks like it prints 3 lines at a time. Kinda disappointed since it can't make very small data matrix codes for my needs ~5.72mm smallest possible. If the spec is 180 dpi it should do 180... just saying.
Wastes label stirps The device works fine but wastes more of the label strip than it actually uses. Considering the price of the label strips, this device should be given to customers for free.
Wasted tape. My average label, printed one at a time is about 1". The blank leader at the front of the tape is also 1". When I go to use the label I cut 1" off. This translates into, whenever I buy a label cartridge, the cost of the label is twice the printed price, since I will always throw away 50%.. When purchasing a label maker, consider the final price is often what you spend for tape in the long run. With this printer, compare double the cost listed for the tape with he cost of other brands. no software no software
A lot of waste each time just for a small label. I think this is intentional. The company makes you to waste tapes so that you would buy more expensive tapes. Even though you are making a small label, you have to waste a lot of tape at the beginning and at the end. I feel sorry every time seeing all the waste going into a trash can without any purpose. And also, the battery does not last long.
If I buy the recommended power supply, will it work? It won't power up with usb. It won't power up with batteries. No power supply came with it. Totally dead out of the box. If I buy the recommended power supply, will it work? Who knows. I doubt that I'll spend the money to find out. This will be returned.
I have spent a long time trying to figure out ... I have spent a long time trying to figure out how to stop wasting tape with this thing. I found that most of the suggestions, i.e. chain printing, adjusting margins, multiple prints, did not work to eliminate the 1" left margin. HOWEVER, if one simply replicates the label in the file as an additional "sheets" and selects "all sheets" to print, you only suffer one pointless 1" left margin. Praktischer Helfer Ich nutze dieses Gerät hauptsächlich um Gegenstände eindeutig auch mit einem Logo und weiteren grafischen Symbolen beschriften zu können. Schön ist daran, dass zum einen keine eigene Software installiert werden muss und dass zum andren jede auf dem System installierte Schriftart und Grafik (monochrom) verwendet werden kann. Natürlich ist der Verschnitt am Anfang und am Ende des Ausdruckes nicht optimal, aber wenn man seine Ausdrucke in bisschen im Vorhinein plant, kann man diesen durchaus minimieren. Alles... read more
