Great printer, CRAP software This is the WORST software I have EVER had to use. It remember NOTHING about what you did before, it tries to talk to any attached printer. I JUST WANT TO PRINT LABELS, nothing fancy, scale the text to fit, scale the length to fit - these options are all there but it is such a usability DISASTER I have to relearn it each time. Ok note to self, everything you need is in inspector (OSX), not in layout properties, not in page setup, not in printer setup, not in preferences and not in view text box u... read more

not as practical as I had hoped Unable to format the length of the label and the upgraded software option won't work with Windows 8. I have to hand cut all of my labels with scissors. Also, to have to attach to a pc and print, I should have chosen a label maker that would also print multiple lines for creating address/shipping labels in addition to file labels.

Works, but super expensive replacement label cartridges The PT prints good labels, but wastes about an inch of tape for every label. Even more disappointing, the price of replacement label tape cartridges is outrageous at ~$11 to $13. I guess it's a variation of the old "sell the razor cheap and gouge them on the blades" strategy. It's too bad - the product itself works OK (although it eats batteries, and sometimes takes over a minute for the PC to recognize it via the USB). However, the supplies pricing policy is comical.

Wastes tape, refuses to print to edges Bought this at Lidl a while back, as i wanted to print out black labels with white text and custom graphics, to label buttons and lights on control panels. Of course i quickly found out about the inch of tape wasted with every print, when you open the tape and battery loading door you can see why, as these are laminated labels, so it prints onto the clear top tape first, then goes on to a set of rollers to press the clear top onto the white sticky backed part of the label, Hence there's... read more

Started great, went downhill fast... I bought this locally on clearance, wanting to be able to label magazine racks and such in my home, and organize my workshop... It worked great for a few months (with VERY little use). Made fine labels, the added clipart options and QR scan codes and other options made for some nifty labels with a little extra flash or info... Wish it would take larger (3/4") tape, but thems the breaks. Here in the last 2 months or so, I've gotten back into smoking premium cigars, and use this to make dat... read more

Junk FOr starters this thing needs batteries. Right out of the box this thing didnt work. tried several differant USB cables. No luck. Tried downloading the drivers manually. Nothing. The PC wont recognize it. Called Brothers technical support. Got some pissed off lady who when though the same steps i already did. Than they wanted to put 50 dollars on my credit card to send me a new unit and than have me pay return shipping to send them the defective on. What a scam. Junk. Junk. Junk.

Waste of $$, Dont Buy I purchased for printing hanging file labels, hard to get them to fit in the holder. Wastes about an inch of label material every time you print. Not good for one at a time labeling. If you order it order a new pair of scissors also, you'll need them the cut feature only gets it out of the machine trimming to size is up to you. Invest your money in in a different labeler

Can't use out of the box ... Imagine opening a product that requires either battery power or AC power. Guess what... neither is included in the box. So much for instant gratification.

Limited features, easily "bricked" In spite of carefully following instructions from Brother to perform an update of the firmware, the process failed and the unit is now "bricked"... completely unusable and not user-recoverable. At this point it can only be revived in a Brother facility, perhaps with some JTAG-like process. I confirmed this with a call to Brother. It's amazing that such a thing could happen with a device after so many years of products designed to recover from re-flashing failures. Other reviews have lamente... read more
