Oh Brother Nice little labeler, versatile and varied, does a great job but, wastes too much tape. There is an inch of blank tape before and after the printing where the cut is made. Without any way of controlling that waste the product is not very economical.

Substandard Product that does not work like regular Brother Label Maker I was upset that this crappy product was made by the same company that makes great labelers. Clearly, something is wrong, and this is an "early" model, or has updated software. I tried to update the software, and even though I'm a computer programmer, it was difficult. As other reviewers pointed out, this machine wastes tape, and it's tough to figure out how to reset the machine so it doesn't just spew out the expensive ($10 a roll of tape). As with razo... read more

Expensive to operate I was really disappointed by the battery life of this label printer. It really needs a power supply, but you don't find that out until you start using it. It uses 6 AAA batteries that last about 20 labels...then you start losing power to drive the tape. If you are going to buy this, plan on also buying the power supply which about doubles the price. Other than that, it works well.

Anoher tape ripoff Prints a solid 1 inch of blank tape at the beginning of every label, with little dots to tell you where to cut it with a scissors. A labelmaker that needs you to cut every label with scissors? An inch of wasted tape on every label? RIP-OFF!

Good idea - lousy execution Got this on sale at a store. Seemed like a great idea, being able to do the typing on my PC instead of a tiny keyboard. I quickly found out it did not work so well. The built-in software is very clunky; in fact I immediately had to do a firmware update just to get it to function properly on Win7. Then when I printed I was shocked to see it spit out a good half inch of expensive tape before it printed. Not only is this wasteful and costly; it also means I have to cut the excess off manually, meanin... read more

Nice concept, poor implementation I got this item for 19.99 at Office Max. I was really excited about it. I have an old Dymo label maker with a keyboard that is not QWERTY. It makes it tough to quickly type out labels. The concept of this label maker is cool. Plug it in, and the software automatically starts (though I couldn't get that to work on my Win 7 system). Once you shut it off and unplug it, it all goes away. Nothing is left behind. But I became disappointed pretty quickly. By default, the label prints with almost an... read more

Poor Value i bought this label maker thinking i would not use batteries, nor would i need to purchase the expensive ($26) 9 volt power adapter. who doesn't have a spare voltage adapter laying around the house? well, i had 4 of them, all the correct 9 volts but none worked with the p-touch. why ?? well, the p-touch company decided to make their adapter proprietary by reversing the lead polarity.....their dinky adapter cost more than the label maker, what a ripoff !! so i used my sissors to cut the adapter cord of one of my ol... read more

Brother arrogant company, waste of tape This is another Brother product that is a pre-designed product that cause you to spend more to maintain it, to add to Brothers bottom line . Again as with the other 2 label makers I have and MFP, wait till you add up the running costs. You have to waste tape each printing and no real way to avoid it. The settings of being able to set length do nothing to reduce waste of overly expensive tape, and could cut off the text as noted. As an aside issue , Brother refuses to allow users to sup... read more

Dead on arrival I got this label printer in a Lightning Deal for a fraction of the current price so the price was right. I installed the drivers, connected the printer, Windows said it was installing the device and everything completed successfully. The problem is that the software comes on a flash drive built into the printer. Even after the drivers were installed the drive wasn't showing up and the power light kept flashing. Brother recommends doing a firmware upgrade in this situation, but since the drive wasn't showing u... read more
