Brother products have been changing the way people work, and play, for years. Our reliable, high-quality, feature-rich printers, scanners, labelers, and more are hard at work in homes everywhere. Whatever your need, Brother products are always "At your side."
Dymo makes a better product I have access to a dymo label maker at work. Recently i saw the brother p touch discounted, and decided to try it at home. The p touch has the worst battery life I have ever seen in a consumer product. Lots of wasted space on the ends of printed labels means you will be buying cartridges sooner than you should have to. The dymo labeler seems to work well with none of the p-touches defects.
Did not work upon arrival. Buyer beware. My Brother label maker didn't work upon arrival. I first called the customer service line to try and trouble shoot, when the representative agreed that it was the machine. Specifically, the label maker did not recognize that there was a printer cartridge installed. It kept saying 'No cassette!' and would not print. She then told me she needed to place a $50.00 hold on a credit card to process a replacement to be sent, to ensure that I returned the defective one (at my cost). This is $... read more
Meh. Fast, but lots of waste, bad WYSIWYG and display For the price, this is a fine label printer, but don't expect greatness. It's a fast model (faster than the Epson printers) and the user interface is somewhat more logical than that of the Epson as well. The readout - a nice, big LCD - is hard to read though, even under the right lighting conditions (bad conditions: forget it). It's also not truly WYSIWYG, a shame for a larger display like this. You select fonts (but only 'A' and '1' are displayed the way they will look, ... read more
BAD on batteries This printer does a good job in making labels, but it is horrible on batteries. It uses 6 AAA batteries. I have never had batteries last more than a week. After going through 2 sets (12 batteries), I decided to remove the batteries between uses. To remove the batteries, you have to take the cartridge out. Unless you plan on buying an DC converter to power this printer, you may prefer to look for something that sucks up less energy. I don't really want to be tethered to an outlet with what should be a portabl... read more
Horrible warranty service Brother's warranty service is absolutely bogus - just to the level that they can claim there's a warranty at all. They wasted 3 hours of my time trying to get warranty service on a defective label maker that went bad after only 3 weeks and less than one full tape cartridge. This was a PT-D200 unit, and while other units may just as well be more reliable, the warranty service I received would be the same for any unit. After receiving a ridiculous troubleshooting run-around from the first tier represe... read more
can not read LED readout. I might have to return it prints well, but might be defective. I have not decided if I am going to keep it or not. The LED readout is very very faint. I do not believe it is a weak battery issue
Does not take all kinds of TZ tape. Only ordered this because i had several units of TZ tape which this product was supposed to work with. It does not work with the TZ tape I have. Tossed the unit after finding that out.
Nice variety of options, but 2 much waste For a label maker it has plenty of options, but I agree with almost every other review in that it wastes too much tape. I got mine for a very good price, but was disappointed when I went to buy a refill cartridge that cost more than the label maker... In an effort to cut down on waste I try to print several labels at once and then cut them apart to avoid the 1" of waste the machine puts on one side of each individual label.
Wastes a ton of tape, but seems easy to use, labels look nice The biggest issue we have with this labeler, and the reason we'll return it, is that it uses an excessive amount of tape at the beginning of every new label. According to their website, where this is a FAQ for the product, it's due to the mechanics of how the tape feeds through or something. The default margin is set to be an inch on BOTH sides of the text. You have a couple of options. If you change the margin to "narrow" or "chain", it will give you a big margin... read more
