Impractical design flaws--not efficient I'm yet another customer returning this item. It's terrible. Here's why: 1. For good organization to work, it has to be fun and easy. But with this machine, you can't just print a label and go. You've got to print, stop, find a scissor, then cut to size (unless whatever you're labeling has room for about 1 inch of wasted margin on either side of your words). I've got a tray of dozens files ahead of me to label, and you can bet I don't want to be sitting there with scissors, hand-trimmi... read more

Not bad - but could be better These things are what I do not like about this: 1. You need scissors to cut the starting end (even with narrow margin setting). The print starts at about a half inch in. 2. Because the printing starts at about a half inch in, you waste that tape each and every time you print something. 3. The unit should have an on-board mechanism to help you cut this extra tape, having to lug around a separate tool (scissors) is not ideal. 4. The LCD display is not an accurate depiction of the font choices. Oh,... read more

Printer review Kind of a sad shocker when the plug in did not come with it and has to be bought separate.

Great little machine but wastes tape if you're not resourceful. Read further for great tip! Just got my labeler about 2 weeks ago and it's awesome. The only complaint I have is the wasted tape. When the machine starts creating the label you will see there is a 1 inch space at the beginning of the label and when you cut the label there is a 1 inch space at the end. This makes 2 inches of wasted label. I've been reading reviews on other brother models and those machines have the same problem. I think it's a given when you buy ... read more

Easy-to-use and Yes, you CAN control tape waste I bought this because I was looking for a low-cost basic labeler to create labels for my manilla office folders. Before buying, I read all the reviews that mentioned tape waste and excessive draining of batteries. I found there is a setting that enables you to control the width of the margins and thereby minimize tape waste. Once this setting was used, the amount of tape wasted was comparable to what I experienced with a Casio labeler I used for years; I did not find it excessi... read more

Order extra tapes right away The provided sample tape did not work. It bound up in the machine and I had to cut it and yank it out. Be sure to have a back up tape handy!

Ok, but not great I am disappointed with the display on this labeler. Display on labeler is not clear. There is not enough contrast between the letters and the background on the display. This makes the display difficult to read.

Good labeler - wish it didn't use so much tape, though I love this labeler, don't get me wrong. It is simple, attractive, and multi-featured, but simply not efficient enough on the tape-consumption for my personal taste. Save the environment, Brother!

Eats Batteries This label maker uses a lot of batteries. I added new batteries and have only printed a few labels and yet the device reports "low battery". It has done this a few times. I also think it should turn off if unattended for a period of time. I'm also bothered that you have to pay roughly $20 for a power adapter for this unit. You either have to go with rechargeable batteries or have a power adapter, otherwise the battery cost will eat you alive.
