Huge tape waster Although I like this product, it is SOOOO wasteful and then automatically reverts to wasteful after any changes. I end up cutting my own labels out of the inches wasted and hand write to save it. Obvious money maker format, poor form.
It was Great UNTIL_________ Have had this for 4 years and it's worked great with the A/C adaptor that was recommended to buy with it. Have never used it with batteries. Today it wouldn't work plugged in, said battery was dead when there were no batteries in it. Tried batteries in it and it didn't work at all. Tried it with batteries and plugged in and after it sat for at least an hour I got 2 labels out of it and then it was dead again. Very frustrating that it doesn't work anymore. It should last more than 4 years with occa... read more

Eats Batteries even when off!! This thing prints great, but it eats batteries even when off. I will put 6 new AAA batteries in it, use it for a few labels. Set it aside and come back in 2-3 weeks to print more labels, and the batteries are totally dead. What's even worse, is that the plug is the opposite polarity from every other cord like it on the market, so you have to buy their Branded cord. You can't use any of the 20 extra cords you have in a drawer from other products... So annoying!
Excessive tape waste and battery drain LOOK AT OTHER OPTIONS! I don't use my labeler that often, but I feel like every time I pull it out for a project, it has low batteries and I have to replace all 6 AAA's. It also wastes a lot of tape at the beginning and end of the actual label. If I were to buy another, I'd definitely look into other options! Not impressed with this design.
Frustrating for occasional use I use this 3-4 times a year and have to replace all the batteries each time. That's a big waste of money for a device that basically sits there doing nothing 99.996% of the year. Brother's advice? Remove the batteries after each use. My advice? Engineer a better product.

Bought for my office and it runs out of batteries ... Bought for my office and it runs out of batteries practically once a week. I turn it off all of the time, so I think it must draw power all of the time.
Killer of Batteries! Kills the batteries CONSTANTLY! Even when I turn it off after putting in a fresh set of batteries, the next time I go to turn it on, the batteries are DEAD! Otherwise, I do like it. Compact size. Relatively easy to use although it's a little hard figuring out the size of the type on the label. The display is nearly useless in this respect. The labels that come out are nice. Crisp printing and they wear very well with no fading or smudging. If you decide to get this, spring for the AC adaptor. Otherwise, ... read more

A set of new alkaline batteries or a set of fully charged Ni-MH (nickelmetal hydride) batteries will last through one 12 mm (0.47") tape cartridge at room temperature with continuous printing. If you are printing many labels, we recommend purchasing the AD24 (AD24ES, AD24ESA, or AD24ESAW) AC adapter. Doesn't last. Wouldn't buy it again. Power issues. Unstable. Does the job when it will turn on.
