Unit drains batteries even when off. Remove at least 1 battery when not in use. Horrible battery eater. This thing eats batteries even when off, which is pretty common for an intermittent use label maker! I'd strongly recommend another model instead. Also, the wall adapter is a strange setup so a normal 9V adapter won't work.
Eats batteries and tape like no tomorrow. Someone has already pointed out the programming that makes sure that you waste an inch of costly tape each time you print, but this device also eats batteries at an alarming rate. I suppose the designers were worried about size and form factor, but tiny AAA batteries, even six of them, just don't have the power to drive this machine. I've gone to premium rechargables, so while I save on battery replacements, I spend as much if not more time fishing out the tiny little batteries and p... read more
Horrible battery life The battery life on this thing is ridiculous. I can count on having to replace the batteries on this almost every time I go to use it. I don't use this often, and I guess if I don't use it, it just sucks the life out. What a waste of time.
Its my fault should of read the description better I haven't got to use this machine, even though I purchased a few months ago. Because I can't believe the crazy amount of batteries it uses, I am purchasing a cord so I can use it. I wouldnt have purchased this if I knew it took so many batteries or didnt come with a plug. Its my fault should of read the description better
Good labeler with one planed deficency. I find this to do all I want in a label maker. It does have the negative mentioned by others of wasting tape. I estimate that I cut off 1/2 inch on each side every time I make a label, so a full inch for ever label printed. This does add up over time. The way I lessen the cost of this is to buy generic labels not the more expensive brother brand labels. I do not print that many that I spent alot on label cassettes. Pro's: many fonts and easy to use. Cheaper generic label cartridges are... read more
Can Not Print Uniform Character or Text Size You can not print consistent text size with this label maker (using the same font and same text size) - I can't believe this is not a common post. I use labels on 3 tab file folders and want each label to be the same font/text size. The size of the text changes both based on the length of the label and number of characters. For example - when I set the label size to be 3" and type 8 characters/letters the text size will be larger than when I type 12 characters/letters. If I change... read more
Difficult to use, with inadequate user instructions This may be a decent printer, but the user interface (the way you need to interact with it) and the instructions are awful. It's an unpleasant task to figure out how to do anything. The way to use the keys and display is not user-friendly and the instructions don't help much either. (I work in tech and spend my life constantly learning new things, so I know it's not me.) The other problem is the inability to control the width of the tape. Even when you set it to narrow, the... read more
One Star stopped working the second time I used it
I have two Brother (PT-D200 and PT-80), PT-80 is ... I have two Brother (PT-D200 and PT-80), PT-80 is a battery drain! I use the PT-200 with a external powre supply and it works very well. The only cons is that it could save a bit the tape, because every label wastes a small part, even with narrow margin. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CJ27AVO?redirect=true&ref_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_14
