We brought our dog here for several years and he received very good care. They didn't upsell meds, vitamins, procedures, etc. and they always had convenient appointment times and availability. Dr. Gillis is our favorite vet and the support staff is so kind, gentle and loving to our dog. We had to put our dog down this week and the dr's and staff at Rea Rd Animal Hospital went above and beyond to comfort us and treat us with sensitivity and compassion. They had an imprint of his paw made for us with his name stamped on it and... read more
I sort of love this place. Everyone on the staff was extremely helpful and courteous. The office was clean, spacious, and smelled great (as opposed to smelling like dog). And Dr. Blair Smith was able to diagnose my dog's issue within minutes of meeting her. Having taken my dog to a different vet in San Diego over a year ago who ran a multitude of tests and X-rays, it was amazing that Dr. Smith, using just her bare hands, concluded that my dog had a knee that dislocated itself from time to time. One of my favorite things abo... read more
My dog has been going to Rea Road Animal Hospital for the past three years and we love it! The staff is courteous and caring and is very prompt with appointments so you're not waiting too long to be seen. The doctors are caring and happy to answer any questions and concerns I may have with my pup. I love that they have their own pet portal online so you can book appointments, renew medications, etc. right there without going in. They also have boarding services but I never used them but seem to be reasonable prices and you ca... read more
Took our "shelter girl" to Rea Road as we were advised she was Heartworm positive but the "foster" was treating her with the "slow kill" medication (which she apparently got for free from the shelter in exchange for fostering. . .the foster was also an early 20's girl who appeared to know nothing about canine care (I knew a heck of a LOT more about dogs in my early teens!). We had a couple positive experiences with a female vet there with our prior adopted dog, but she is only there part time, and Rea Road thinks they can ju... read more
Thought this place was okay until we took our new rescue for heartworm treatment. See4med to do okay with everything until after her final shot. Then the nickel and diming started with one drug after another. Mandatory doxycycline for 30 days post shot, no explanation why. Online research indicated it was not really necessary Dog reacted badly so we took her to another vet and we told the doxy was not really necessary. New vet also agreed and told us to discontinue. Save yourself lot of concern and stress and avoid this... read more
They nickel and dime you for absolutely everything. Charged me for an "ear cytology" and didn't tell me what was actually wrong, *I* told them it was a yeast infection but they never actually confirmed. Then gave her a blunderbuss approach medication that kills everything (why charge me for a "cytology" if the medication you overcharge for will have the same result anyway). Also charged for an ear cleaning... shouldn't you do that in order to put the medication in? They basically charged me $10/minute. I will be taking my do... read more
I took my pup in for a lame paw. The vet encouraged me to get X-rays and when they came back, she said there was no bone break, which I could have told her. She said she was not an expert at reading X-rays (all for $600) and she can refer me to a radiologist and maybe neurologist as she didn't think she saw cancer. I asked for pain meds until I decided what I wanted to do. Fast forward a month and my dog got worse, we had to put her down. When we took her in, the vet that was there (who was AMAZING) said it was a good thing... read more
The appointment was made by my husband and you don't need to have his name to look us up since you refused to treat our dog.

The ladies that work here are very sweet and sympathetic. The vet isnt. Will not be coming back. I have met many veterinarians and the male vet was terrible and rude.
