We had dinner reservations for the evening, but four of us stopped in for a mid-afternoon cocktail. It was very attractive from the street and inside is simply gorgeous: very modern, big, and bright in the afternoon, but more subdued for dinner, fabulous atmosphere. We always make a point of eating here when we visit NYC. Food and service is always great. Only complaint is we want to see the Red Plane back!
It's hard to beat this restaurant. Yes it's New York and there are hundreds of restaurants. Red eye grill is consistent year after year. If you're new ask the fantastic wait staff what's good. They will never let you down. If you're a repeat customer I don't need to say anything. You know what you like. Specials are just that special. They have yet to dissappoint. Redeye is a gem! Love the food. Lobster potpie and the banana creme pie are some of the best we've ever eaten. Our problem that night was once we arrived we were told we would have to be out in an hour and a half as they had a "buy-out" of the restaurant at that time. I had made our Opentable reservation weeks in advance and feel we should have been called to alert us to that fact. We were rushed to say the least. It was not a relaxing experience. Service and food here are excellent. They have a very welcoming atmosphere and I did not want to leave. It ranks at the top of my list.
Visiting midtown was hectic and the Redeye Grill was a welcome respite. Big airy room, brisk service with added cheese biscuits and oatmeal cookies brought t the table by the captain were soothing and sublime. THe wine list was solid and the food was fresh and flavorful. Our waitstaff made solid suggestions and were spot on. Price was comparable to other fine midtown places and we would gladly return.
Y'all were very accommodating when my spouse asked to substitute lobster for the crab cake on the benedict item at brunch on Sunday. So sorry the scaffolding is up as we could not dine outside.
Redeye's fare is consistent--good. I took 5 out-of-town business associates, all of whom truly enjoyed their meals. The big hit at the table were the watermelon gazpacho, which was simply delightful and the lobster lasagna.
Our service was outstanding, the food was terrific, and we were able to get out in plenty of time to get to our show on time. Always delicious and dependable.
