Excellent food and outstanding service. Knowledgable and well-trained wait-staff. Very crowded and loud. I had to lean in to hear my date across our small table. They could use a larger space with more room between tables.
Wonderful. We recieved a gift certificate last year for this resturant. So, we tried it out and we loved it. So, we decided to make a point of now going their once a year on my birthday.
The combination of great food and small restaurant ambiance makes Bartolotta's in Tosa my favorite in Milwaukee.
We tend to eat here on special occasions, but have realized we need to come more often. It is a great place with a great atosphere, making you feel you are a million miles away. The service was outstanding and we enjoyed practicing Italian with them. The seasonal Red Cow sauce was possibily the best meal I have ever eatten, my husband who doesn't like white sauces even said he wished he would of had it. It was the perfect place to celebrate my husband's 55th BD. We were seated next to the window and although the tables were close it still had a cozy feel. Our server was fantastic...perfect rec's, well-timed and friendly with the IT factor...knowing when to fade in the background and when to make her presence known. We really enjoyed the grilled seafood and the cheese platter...half price wine was a great surprise.
Another outstanding meal at this wonderful restaurant. Besides the great food and servive it was half price bottled wine night, how can you go wrong. This was the second time i have taken my boss from NY, who is also Italian and very picky and he won't go anywhre else.
Food was fantastic. Wine was delightful. Service was extremely accomodating from table selection, food / wine recommendations, and food preparation /execution. Absolute wonderful dining experience.
All four courses were prepared expertly. The pasta was prepared as it should be, but so frequently is not at lesser restaurants. Fish was not dry from overcooking and the polenta was the best I've had, bar none, including stops in Italy. I live in suburban Chicago, but will return as frequently as I can. After two recent disappointing meals at Lake Park Bistro, I was skeptical about dining at Ristorante Rartolotta, but I am very thankful that I took the chance.
The food was tremendous - spinach ravioli & grilled shrimp/scallops, with the cheese plate as an appetizer. The 'Mafia Kiss' martini was also unique and tasty. Great atmosphere & service. Definitely need reservations...very small waiting area w/ limited seating at the bar, so getting a table w/out a reservation could leave you standing for quite awhile.
