There are many places to dine in Calgary, and it is sometimes hard to upset routine and try a different place for a change. I have to admit that it took me a couple of years to actually make a reservation here but I am very pleased that I did! It was a friends birthday, and he loves steak so we decided to give the place a try. Great food. Pricey wine list...estimated mark up on or wine 250%. Service was excellent, but on a couple of occasions they attempted to remove plates when we were still eating. Lobster mashed potatoes to die for...literally as they were so rich I could feel my arteries hardening with each swallow.
The steak was great, the carpaccio amazing, and the lobster mashed potatoes sinful.
The Saltlik is a great steakhouse. The staff is wonderful, the food excellent but for some reason they were playing top 40 music and 90's stuff. Why? What crowd are you trying to appeal to? I understand there is no dress code but if you are charging fine dining prices please complete the deal and give me some ambiance to match.

Was able to make a reservation last minute, food, service and venue were great!
From sitting down to being able to getting a drink took 40 mins. We weren't able to order food until after an hour. We had a bottle of wine and had to serve ourselves. Our waitress was MIA for most of the night. They were playing 80s pop music all night which didn't really fit the decor.
My wife and I had very enjoyable experience for our anniversary. I enjoyed the service, the atmosphere and the food. We had a nice romantic dinner while others were enjoying family meals and still others looked to be having a meal before going out on the town.
This is our favourite steakhouse in the city - by far, no contest. The steaks are always well seasoned and cooked perfectly. We have never had anything here that we did not enjoy. Our favourite side is the lobster mashed potatoes - if you haven't tried it, you have to. The service is always good and you are never hounded during your meal nor are you forgotten.
