The service was excellent, the food was a little disappointing.
After having visited this restaurant last year and having a great experience, it is a shame this year was not up to the same standards. Food was great, atmosphere was enjoyable, service was however was not up to standard. Throughout the meal, he was condescending, drinks were sat empty on the table and finally when thanked for the meal with eye contract made- completely blanked and subsequently would not return.
Table not ready on time. Then given a vast wide table for only 5 of us which did not work for smaller group. The pianist was amazing but we had a speaker above us which was so loud we couldn’t hear each other and had to ask to lower several times. Starters were nice. The lady who took the order for food was very abrupt & unfriendly. We waited over an hour for our food & in the time that we were waiting another table arrived offered the specials menu, we were not. The food was good when it arrived, couple of the meals could have been warmer. Once table was cleared we realised that we had been in there for 2 hours and when we were eventually offered desserts and by the time she came to take the order, we declined as we weren’t prepared to wait another hour. Just left the square - didn’t see a piano just heard piped sporadic music coming through the speakers. The food was OK but when I asked whether the ribeye came with potatoes I was advised “ no not really”. The wine which we ordered only came after the starters arrived. It was our wedding anniversary and we got a very small piece of chocolate brownie cut in to triangles given to us even before they asked whether we wanted a dessert. On the whole not an enjoyable anniversary meal and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

First time we’ve been to this restaurant.we were shown upstairs to a large room. We were a Party of 4 adults. Food was good but in particular the beetroot/ pear starter was not very good value. Looked pretty but some diced beetroot mini salad and 2 small pieces of pear really did not warrant the cost. Whilst the calamari had more pieces than any calamari starter I’ve ever seen! Sadly this time the food and service was below thr normal high standard. Ask for certain removed from the food. This was not followed and led to an unpleasant eating experience
Misleading and disappointing. I booked as thought with the piano and nice seating there would be a good atmosphere for Xmas, but we were put in a boring room upstairs with only the voice of the pianist on a loud speaker. You couldn’t hear the piano so it was just loud and off putting. We raised with the staff why we couldn’t hear the piano but he just pointed to the speaker. I’d understand if we were a late booking or large group but I booked in Oct for 6 people. The lack of ambience Spoiled our evening.

I had researched and the reviews were good leading me to have high expectations. Location great, nice and central but we sat upstairs which had no vibe at all. There was no piano! I chose the chicken roast. Meat was lovely and soft but the roast potatoes were huge and undercooked. Hardly any vegetables and about a tablespoon of gravy. Very disappointing indeed.
