MISLEADING PICTURES That beautiful panoramic picture on the main page is not all part of the hotel (attaching pic with details). The tall white building to the right is the RIU hotel (the logo has been Photoshop from the top). The hotel is actually located in a lagoon (with alligators, so no swimming is allowed) and not the ocean. There is no mention of that on the hotel description. In Cancun they know this hotel as the Sunset Lagoon, not the Sunset Marina Resort & Yacht Club. The description says that you can walk 15 minut... read more
Deceptive hotel location, mediocre experience The hotel is actually located on the lagoon -NOT- on the Ocean. Also be aware that the lagoon is a no-swimming zone (due to alligators) and that there is only one very small pool on property. Although the resort is generally well maintained, the rooms are somewhat unclean (we found hair in our bed), and the food choices are limited. Poor facilities; poor maintenance; bad food We stayed for 5 days. Room cleanliness was ok. The buildings were old and rooms weren't of good quality although I wouldn't call them bad. The AC wasn't turned on and it took us a call to maintenance to figure out how to turn it on. The water pressure in the bath shower was very low. A couple of days there was no running in the night for a few hours. If you used the toilet then, you can't flush or wash your hands either. When I called reception they said there are repairing it. Vacation from Hell I wanted to express my experience and disappointment at your hotel/resort a few days ago. Stay Away The website is very deceiving, only one buffet with hardly any food, we had to eat mainly breads & food items were not replenished. The alcohol selection was limited as well, & I never saw any snacks throughout the day. The website says all inclusive includes access to their other 3 resorts, but that only means the facilities, food & alcohol is not included. Just Average I stayed for one night at this place then moved out - the gap between reality vs, how they promote themselves is huge. Something as simple as asking for a bottle of water was met with the response "we don't have bottled water" - what???
