A Very Unhappy Experience: I took my 12 year old cat to Symphony Vet for a well kitty visit. Dr. Campbell said kitty was too thin, palpated a slightly enlarged thyroid gland and suspected hyperthyroidism. As I'm on a very modest fixed income, I asked for prices. Visit = $85.00. Senior Blood Profile = $174.00. Thyroid Tests = $97.00. Stool Sample = $40.00. Total = $396.00. I asked if we could not do the stool sample. She said they like to have that too, but it could be waived. New Total = $356.00. I thought the costs were ver... read more
Symphony Vet has a lovely front desk staff, courteous and professional. The facilitiesd are new, clean and stellar. Whats up with the vets? The vets are mediocre and if your animal is really sick I would not- would NOT take it here. Gotham is right around the corner, and every vet there is fully competent. Symphony is capable of basic vetting. And I'd say that's it. In 2018 I will continue to say there is a new vet every time you go there- and they are per diem vets who are CLEARLY green. This says to me they do not pay enou... read more
In my experience, Symphony Vet has provided subpar veterinary care for my dog. First of all, the people I've encountered working at the front desk are less than friendly and not the most competent. They have failed to input important information into their computer system regarding my dog's prescription on two separate occasions which prevented me from ordering her medications from an outside provider. I don't know if that was an intentional "mistake" or not, but it was at the cost of my dog's well-being. Secondly, an aq... read more
I have been to Symphony Vet for about 4 years, because it is only two blocks from my apartment, and my bulldog doesn't like to walk far.. and each time I go, I say that I am not going to go again, but always end up there (since I am usually an emergency appointment person - dog with bad back. )There was this FABULOUS vet there, Dr. Martin, but I learned she returned to Europe, and now, whomever I see, I am equally dissappointed. My dogs were vaccinated at Symphony Vet 3 years ago and the very next day, my 2 year old french ... read more
I read several reviews and decided to try Symphony Vet. I had some bad experiences with my other dogs in the past on the Upper West Side. First I found Dr. Auerbach. I took my puppy there and the place was clean, the staff was friendly and the doctor seemed thorough. Seemed good, right? Well, not for long. Dr. Auerbach left. Her replacement left. Our puppy went in to be neutered and we found out after that it was not the new associate who did the surgery (as we were informed pre-op) but rather a rent-a-doc. And sh... read more
There was no button for negative stars or I would have given that score to this horrible vet. My dog was bloated, which I hear can be fatal. This vet does not even have the simple bloat kit that every vet has. They told me not to come in but to take my dog to the emergency room. THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING! They are also very rude which i just read on yelp Please for your sake and your pets... Go elsewhere. Thank God the Upper West side has so many vets. I walked my sweet dog promptly ( when they kept us waiting to... read more
this place i very good. but extremely EXPENSIVE. my dog hurt his leg and they charged $400 for medicine and x-rays because nothing was wrong. when i picked up my dog, he was the same way he went in, he wasn't dirty or anything. and to my knowledge they don't have a basement!!!
I have two bunnies, and they have both been here. The Exam: While the doctors are personable and pleasant, and were obviously knowledgeable about rabbits, they didn't tell me anything I didn't already know about my bunnies during their check-up. "Hes got good teeth and a healthy coat..." Really? Does he have ears? The Operation: I brought my eldest bunny here to be neutered. When I made the appointment I was only quoted the price of the operation, and not the vet visit. So my bill $85 higher than expected. I paid for the... read more
Horrible, dark basement boarding facilities. Our cat was covered in urine and feces when we picked her up. Techs seem disinterested, uncaring, and cold.
