DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO SYMPHONY VET. My dog was misdiagnosed, given a contraindicated combination of medications where he ended up in the ER. He survived - but in addition - Dr Campbell who misdiagnosed and prescribed the contraindicated medications, refused to meet with me in person to discuss the situation. I took my dog to Animal Medical Center where they found a tumor. He was diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery to remove the tumor.
We brought our guinea pig to the vet (they claim to specialize in small animals) because we suspected he had ringworm. Though very nice, Dr. Levison looked at him for 1 second and said he just had an eye infection, and when we mentioned again we thought it was ringworm, she said she'd look at his eye again using a fluorescent light which would catch ringworm (of course that costed extra unbeknownst to us). Relieved thinking he just had an eye infection, we took him home and gave him the prescribed eye medicine. It seemed to ... read more
Business response:
Michelle, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry for your experience with our hospital. When Dr. Levison saw your companion, we can assure you that proper diagnostic measures were taken. At the time he was examined, he showed no indication of anything other than the eye infection. Since symptoms change over time, we are always happy to follow up with our patients if they are not responding as expected to treatment. If you would like to review the medical records with a member of our team, please do not hesitate to give us... read more
Update: 11/25/17 My Original Rating was 5 stars but I had taken my dog here about 2 months ago to be checked out for vomiting, and even brought my new addition of a pup to receive vaccinations. I had paid over $600 to have my older dog given fluids, an xray and medication that no one explained to me what it would do or the side effects of the medicine. I had spent only 10 minutes with a vet who was not Dr. Cambpell. I was also practically forced to buy dog food that was a prescription. When I had asked the doctor what was t... read more
HORRIBLE! My dog was unprovoked bitten 3x in CP. The other dog's owner took responsibility (because I insisted & there were many witnesses). The 4 of us walked to his vet "symphany" together. They made my bleeding dog wait 15 minutes & then told me that although 2 doctors were in the back without patients, we had to wait 4 hours because the vets were making calls to patients while they were waiting for their appointments to arrive. They said they could see him in 4 hours when they had an opening. NO CLIENTS IN THE VET... read more
They over-treated my beautiful cat who died prematurely of complications from diabetes treatment. The thousands of dollars I spent did nothing but cause more suffering. They also neglected to refer me to the feline diabetes specialist a few blocks away. I had to euthanize my best friend which, of course, cost several hundred more dollars. I will never take another beloved pet to these cruel crooks.
I'm going to predicate this review by saying that I realize it's an outlier--and quite possibly the lowest rating ever posted here for Symphony. All I can say is that this was *my experience* and I gave them a fair shot--ten years in fact. REASONS: --They handled the terminal diagnosis of my late cat with insensitivity and in poor form. --Dental work done there on my other cat over the course of several years was, as recent x-rays established, done very poorly and contributed to a chronic gum condition. --Their rates are, a... read more
We had a terrible experience with Symphony Vet. The owner is rude and unprofessional. I questioned them after my dog passed less than 12 hours after we had been at the vet and had been given no indication that she was in such bad shape. I was shocked by her death and heartbroken. However, we still went ahead with the cremation through them and that was mishandled also. However, we had liked Dr. Venezia. When I got a new fur baby recently , I spoke at length to the office manager Monica and then decided to make an appoint... read more
A Very Unhappy Experience: I took my 12 year old cat to Symphony Vet for a well kitty visit. Dr. Campbell said kitty was too thin, palpated a slightly enlarged thyroid gland and suspected hyperthyroidism. As I'm on a very modest fixed income, I asked for prices. Visit = $85.00. Senior Blood Profile = $174.00. Thyroid Tests = $97.00. Stool Sample = $40.00. Total = $396.00. I asked if we could not do the stool sample. She said they like to have that too, but it could be waived. New Total = $356.00. I thought the costs were ver... read more
Symphony Vet has a lovely front desk staff, courteous and professional. The facilitiesd are new, clean and stellar. Whats up with the vets? The vets are mediocre and if your animal is really sick I would not- would NOT take it here. Gotham is right around the corner, and every vet there is fully competent. Symphony is capable of basic vetting. And I'd say that's it. In 2018 I will continue to say there is a new vet every time you go there- and they are per diem vets who are CLEARLY green. This says to me they do not pay enou... read more
