$19 a month sound good? Well for me, one month turned into a $1400+ expense. As others have mentioned, the parking situation is abhorrent. The lot is huge, so you wouldn't think so, but drive by at 5 or 6pm and you'll see people parked on side streets, sidewalks, and the grass. My car was hit while parked in the lot, and I was parked in a legal spot. It caused $1400 worth of damage and no note was left. The fitness edge has the absolute worst spinning instructors!Tthey are all women and they play the same "hit"radio songs. They teach the class as if you are doing aerobics on a bike. Hardly anyone is on time to start the class and once they are there the tend to talk about their weekend. Once the class starts, they talk too much so that you are not focused on the workout(although horrible). I was a member of the Edge for over 5 years, but had to cancel my membership due to moving out of state. I am extrememly disappointed with the membership cancellation procedure. You cannot cancel your membership through the Edge, but you must go through ABC Financial. They are extremely difficult to deal with and in contacting the management at the Edge, they referred me to ABC Financial because they don't handle cancellations in house. It's cheap - that's the only plus. As far as gyms go, it's pretty terrible (not Planet Fitness terrible though). They should just name 4-6 p.m. "two hour douche bag blitz."
Before my own complaint- a note to Yelpers. Know the contract you are entering yourself into! You cannot break terms unless you move outside the designated mileage from a Fitness Edge gym. I believe it is something live 15 miles. Only in that given circumstance can you cancel a contract. So complaining that you are still being charged after you "cancel membership" is just ignorant. I prefer the Shelton location because of its proximity to my work, low key atmosphere, friendlier staff and better classes. But since I live closer to Fairfield Edge I do go here on the weekends. The problem with this "huge new space" is that its still not big enough. I don't know if its the business or the customers but they can't seem to reach a high enough membership quota. Can I pick less than one star? The EDGE sucks. What a scam. In fact, they really suck... They're a financial company masquerading around as a gym... shame on you. Do not be deceived!!!!!!! I was. Don't sign up for the Fitness Edge. Their membership practices are a joke. You will be sorry you joined if you ever try to cancel. Mark those words. No company that relies on deceiving customers is worth the money. Go somewhere else. Shame on whatever sad person runs this company.
and you would think after moving a new location that is double the size than the old with some new equipment is better. Going to the New Edge location is very stressful. You have to fight for a parking spot and then fight for a treadmill or other pieces of cardio equipment. People almost throw fists over this. Literally. There is no parking during week night peek periods and in the morning on the weekend. People park on the access street beside the gym.
