I like this gym, I've been a member for a few years. It's big, so you don't have to wait much if ever for a machine or treadmill. The front desk staff and trainers are all friendly, and I like that there's not much turnover .. They find good people and keep them. The members are all walks of life and all sizes and ages. Everyone pretty much keeps to themselves and concentrates on their workout, meaning it's not a pick-up scene or gab fest. My only wish is that there was a bit more room in the free weight area, and a few more... read more

The thing you need to remember is the Edge never pretends to be a boutique gym. It's big and impersonal and there are a ton of machines and classes and trainers. You can almost always find the machine you need and people are pretty polite about letting you know if they are almost done if they can tell you are looking for a machine. The locker rooms are large and there is always a cleaning person actively working (at least in the ladies - can't speak for men's.) The classes are great although I only have experience with T... read more

Love my gym - especially my trainer Pedro Hernandez. He personalizes each session to my needs and I truly enjoy my work outs! Perfect location, the hours work with my schedule, it has the latest equipment and the spinning classes are great!

I joined about 6 months ago and I work with a personal trainer. I'm getting great results, and its helped me feel comfortable going on my own as, well because I have a routine. Pros: staff is great, convenient, pretty large club, fantastic option of classes, good trainers, wide variety of ages and genders. Cons: can get crowded at peak times, needs to update machines, mats provided never get cleaned but at least you don't have to haul in your own! I gave 4 stars because I would like to use newer machines!

PROS -- Overall it is a decent facility for the amount they charge. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. CONS -- There are way too many members. It is impossible to work out in a reasonable amount of time between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. The company is expanding too rapidly. They have opened so many shiny new facilities while ignoring their flagship in Fairfield. All members paid a $49.99 assessment on April 1st presumably for equipment upgrades. We've not received any new equipment in Fairfield since spring 2015.

The fine points of the agreement don't just jump right out at you when you click the "join" link on their website. I have excerpted it below. Note that the $19.99/mo is a teaser rate for the first year, after which it jumps to $24.99. And then the real kicker is that you have to give WRITTEN notice a month in advance to quit. There is also the $49.99 annual fee. It's probably still a pretty good deal, especially compared to more expensive clubs like Equinox, but it's not a bad idea to read the fine print first. -----------... read more

The Fitness Edge in Fairfield, CT is probably one of their more popular locations and tends to crowd up quite a bit during certain times of the day and year - this is to be expected. Parking is abundant but gets tight as well during these times. If you are not completely tied to a specific routine, mix it up and you'll be ok during peak hours.Like any gym, there are the few that don't put weights back after using them and some that will sit on machines making phone calls or texting. Just ask to work in with them and that usu... read more

Hi David. Thank you for your feedback. I have contacted the facilities team and we will be working to repair any broken cardio equipment in Fairfield. You can always let the General Manager or a staff member know if you see any broken equipment. Thank you!

This was by far my favorite gym. I was a member when I was in college and I loved that I was able to go to any Edge fitness club in the area. The price was great, classes were awesome - I loved it and really miss it!! I wish there would be some of these fitness clubs in NJ.

The place is really clean and people nice. I wish they had more classes - they use to have two rooms and now they only have one so they cut classes in half and shortened yoga classes to 60 min (from standard 75).

Business response:

Hi Gr, thank you for your 4 star review. If you are looking for more classes we do offer a program called Edge Strong which is team training classes. You stop by the front desk for more details. Thank you again!
