The gym is ok while you're a member, but buyer beware if you ever move and decide to cancel your membership. I honored my one year contract which rolled to month to month afterward. I moved out of state in 2010, informed ABC billing of the move, provided my lease as proof of the move and to date the EDGE still refuses to acknowledge the move and claims I owe $400. If you are not sure if this is for you, you'd better watch out what's in your contract. Read word by words and the dates filled out by the rep at Milford, CT. I signed up on 9/20/2010 for a year (at least, that's what I thought) and the first membership was charged on 9/10/2010. I sent 30 day notice in early Aug to terminate my membership 30 days before 9/20. One star is far too generous. After having been a member for many years I have noted the overall deterioration of quality and cleanliness, noisy, crowded. Machines not whipped down. Not customer centered. Strongly recommend you look elsewhere.
My non-native English speaking wife was somehow talked into a TWO YEAR agreement. We cannot afford this but they are refusing to let us back out after 14 months.
This gym is way too busy after they lowered its fee and NYSC closed down. To top it off when I went to cancel they charge you for another 30 days AND the only way to cancel is sending a certfied (yes it has to be certified) letter to their billing company. I strongly advise you to look elsewhere.
Overall this gym is the MOST unclean that I have been too. It has gotten to the point that it is frustrating. I would say that 75% of the people don't think to wipe down the cardio after using. A ridiculous number when you consider that hepatitis can live on a surface for 3-4 weeks! So many better options if you are in this area. Fitness Edge is same price as NYSC - Commerce Road. But NYSC has swimming pool and nicer equipment. They let go of one of their best workout instructor despite pleading by over 50 members. So obviously, they do not care about members. Before you sign up, test to see how easy it is to get corporate or managers to respond to a question.
