I have been a member for four years. I have paid my dues on time and never missed a payment. I suffered the loss of the rest of my immediate family this year, during which I was NOT at the gym for at least 6 months. They make it extremely difficult to put your membership on hold. That is what my son tried to do when he went away to college... They continued to charge him for 3 years! Eventually we cancelled his membership and they still charged us for next month! Do not use this gym!
While I'm a fan of The Edge, I'm disappointed in a lack of benefits and acknowledgment of staff that also serve our country. I went in to sign up for personal training with Doran. I had heard that he was gone for two weeks of active military training. I was surprised to hear from several people that The Edge doesn't provide any time off for those that are sent off for required military duty. UNFAIR BILLING PRACTICES GOUGE LOYAL CLIENTS I've been a loyal member of the Edge Norwalk for many years, dating back to when there was a women's Fitness Edge in Westport. I've had the good fortune to work with an amazing trainer, and have remained loyal to the club for this reason. The gym is fine for a large size place to workout. My huge issue is that I like to listen to my music while I work out. Unfortunately while they claim to have wifi and you get full bars on your phone, the fact is there is no working wifi. I've asked about it and it's always the same Either we don't know what you're talking about or that was supposed to have been fixed or I'll let them know Just plain bad.

There must be an absentee owner because the staff doesn't treat customers well. The staff makes all their money with private training sessions and couldn't care less about you if you're not training with them. When you sign up, they give you a free training session, during which you'll do almost no training and get a high-pressure sales pitch for privates. Absolutely awful business. I have never signed a contract, yet I have been charged monthly for 8 months now. The gym cards show no activity. The manager wont admit her mistake & corporate cant be bothered to call me back. I have spoken to 5 different people now all basically saying "i dont know". It has been 8 months of paying for TWO accounts and they wont even CANCEL the membership. I am not even asking for the 100s already paid back! Dont trust a word they say, they are just looking for a commission.

Overall, my experience here has been positive. Good yoga classes, nice facilities, helpful staff. My 2-year-old son attends the childcare, and he has always enjoyed his time there. The one time I walked in to find him crying, he was sitting on someone's lap, which was wonderful to see. Hate this gym. The second they see a new person walk in their sales staff is like sharks smelling blood in the water. They'll do or say anything to get your credit card on file...don't even try to cancel if you have to, and make sure you read the fine print when you're signing the contract. Their customer service is more difficult to deal with than any other I've encountered.
