It is a buy. Why waste time and effort cleaning filter basket and canister filter when this removes the bulk of the problems. I have used this unit now for a month and typically have to clean the pump basket and canister filter twice a month (at least, season dependent). After a month of use, I checked both filters and they were empty...really...no debris. So, it saves time and probably the cost of the canister filter change (I have been replacing 2 times per year at $60 each). If this unit lasts one year, it paid for itself... read more
