We have been customers of Belle Haven for a little more than a year after moving to the area from Michigan. About 11 months ago our 9 year old golden retriever was diagnosed with cancer. While the vet at Belle Haven suspected he might have cancer, she could do nothing for it and sent us to Southpaws in Fairfax. Unfortunately, after surgery and Chemo we lost him, and, though the vet at Belle Haven was sympathetic, she had nothing medically to offer us. Came back to this place out of sheer convenience. Rushed to make a 530 appointment right after work. I'm arrive on time, checkin, and while I'm the only customer car in the parking lot no one has come out to get my dog after 30 minutes of sitting here. Never coming back. They also tried to refuse refilling one of my dogs prescriptions until they had a check up with him recently even though I had three refills left on the bottle. The veterinarians are good in this place, but the front desk people lately were so uncared and discouraging, so I end up writing this review. I wait for a week for a manager to call me back after I complained, but nothing. It looks like a big wall or a pattern to me between me as a customer to my Vet in a COVID time in this clinic. I could not see my Veterinarian directly because they are making the rule that they are picking the dog from my car and I have to talk to the vet on the phone. I am not against this rule. We have been taking our dog to BHAMC for nearly 14 years. The doctors have been generally helpful and friendly. The front desk staff/customer support, never overly friendly or outgoing, except when asking for payment, is deficient to say the least! Most recently, they did nothing for us when we we most needed BHAMC to care for our dog, who we had to put down this past week. I have been a patient of Dr. Terri Donohue for over 20 years. During that time, she has treated over a half dozen animals. After today, I will be looking for a different Vet. Due to Covid, they are not allowing any people into the facility. I was told that after taking the dog back, some one would come out to talk about his issues. No one ever did. We have 2 beautiful 10 year old cats (sisters) raised from birth - bottle feed. One sister was experiencing (now we know) all the symptoms of heart disease. We did not get any diagnose nor did we feel the staff was attentive at all to our concerns unit it was time to pay the bill. $1,016.54 - 2 cats vaccinations, routine blood work and wellness visit. Rest in peace Sydney.
One of my biggest pet peeves - not answering the phone when you're supposed to be open. This office states they open at 7:30 am Monday through Friday. At 7:51am on a Tuesday there is still no answer. Beyond frustrating and makes me doubt the level of care.
Been coming here for over a decade and the clinic has become a three ring circus where the pet's need is a distant thought. Value for service provided has hit bottom.
Would it be unreasonable to believe that if my dog's prescription label says it expires in seven months and I have 2 refills, that I should be able to order the med online and have it approved by BHAMC (where the script was written)? Would it be unreasonable to believe that if BHAMC had a "problem" with refilling the prescription they would communicate that to the pet owner who is waiting for its arrival, not imagining there could be any "problem" with such a routine process?
