Went for the first time with three pets. Dr. Katz was great, the office and waiting room was clean & pleasant, the vet tech was super nice. The only drawback was having to listen to the front desk staff complaining about their jobs loudly in front of us... it left us feeling a little icky.

I have an extremely "opinionated" cat who is now about a year and a half old. We've taken her to Belle Haven since we first brought her home, and I think Dr. Katz is the only person besides my husband and me who can convince our cat to do things she really, really doesn't want to do! We trusted Belle Haven to spay our cat when the time came, and her recovery was extremely fast and she had no complications such as infection. belle haven animal medical centre is a breath of fresh air for pet "parents." i had a horrible experience with another vet in the area, and then i stumbled onto belle haven. when i pulled into the parking lot, i knew it was going to be a good place for my pets. the building is nautical themed, both inside and out. once you walk in the door, you are greeted by the friendly front desk staff. on your first visit, they will give you forms to fill out and snap a photo of your pet. the lobby is spacious and clean. there is a hug... read more

Just off the GW parkway south of Old Town, you will find this nautically themed "home' where dogs and cats comingle in the lobby awaiting care. Young (all female)assistants man the front desk with efficiency and friendliness. The area is bright, cheery and spotless. Complimentary coffee is available and a restroom. This practice has gone downhill over the past several years. They are just corporate now and try and push you to book an appointment no matter what the issue. You cannot even get a vet on the phone if you have questions. They tell you like drones - you have to book an appointment. The bill has gone up and the service has gone down. They now take your dog into another room to examine which was never the case in years passed. I miss the old Belle Haven. The front desk staff. I walked in to request information on end of life services. This is already a tough time, but the staff did not make it easier. The first person I spoke to could not answer my questions. An assistant to the left of her started to explain the process for new patients and then told me I needed to take my dog to the ER. That was not the reason why I was at their office. She did not provide me with any information for end of life services. I agree with all the other reviewers who used to love this practice but have seen it go downhill since it was sold. Belle Haven is still trying to trade on their former reputation but almost everybody who built that reputation has left or been fired. They are now another one of these corporate-owned, money-first practices that are popping up everywhere in both human and veterinary medicine...to the patient's detriment. I wouldn't recommend this vet. We went to this vet for 35 years when Lynn Shutt owned it. Since he sold this practice it is HORRIBLE. and all his wonderful vets left, the clinic has changed completely! We needed to get Rimadyl yesterday and they were nasty because my husband called twice, and they dropped us as patients. They sent us our records and it's obvious they don't care about your animals - they only care about making money! I was told by the lady at the front desk that no doctors were in to see my dog. I don't know about you but when I go to a human urgent care I hope there's someone there to see me lol
