We had our home comfort system replaced by Brower 10/2013, including having new duct work, installation and venting installed in our attic. Buyer be ware. I will never use Brower Mechanical again for any of their services. They cannot be trusted. They will rip you off and charge excessively for parts and labor on a heating air conditioning unit repair. I bought two HVAC systems and have regularly called them for repairs. The last few times I thought the charge was excessive. Recently, they would not even give me a breakdown of estimated labor and parts. We signed up for a Home Performance Program through SMUD and selected these guys as our contractor, based on a referral from someone at my wife's work. I wish that I could happily recommend this contractor also, BUT Brower Mechanical has earned two thumbs down from me at this point. Dave did a great job of working up our estimate and facilitating the energy audit process - He even clued us in on some savings we might have missed. Be careful when dealing with Brower. I attempted to schedule AC maintenance on my two condensers. Roseville has a $75.00 rebate for AC maintenance available. The normal price quoted to service these two units by Brower was $186, so my out of pocket after the two rebates should have been $36.00. However, since there is a rebate available, they wanted me to pay over $200 for the service -- they up-charged their service simply because of the rebate!!! This REALLY seems unscrupulous to me.

I purchased home in Granite Bay about a year ago and it had a fairly new high-end Lennox HVAC system. I recently contacted Brower Mechanical to have a service/tune-up on it. The receptionist was polite and explained that the combo price to have both AC/Heater serviced was $187. I had to wait almost a month for my appointment. We were given a window of 12-4 PM on a Friday. The serviceman showed up about 5:15 PM ( he called about 4 PM to say he would be late). Had furnace/ac installed 8/12. Another contractor offered a inspection review of our system which they did. They discovered a duct completely disconnected and the set up of the ac was not done correctly. After a number of. After a number of calls to Brower and them saying nothing could be wrong they came out and admitted that the duct had not been reconnected. BEWARE!!!!! If I could give this company zero stars I would. We had Brower come out and check out our unit that was purchased and installed by Brower in 2012. It was blowing warm air. After installing a new capacitor the unit was still producing warm air. We were told they needed to do a leak detection test where they would put in 6lbs of refrigerant and inject a dye. We had Brower install a new HVAC unit in our home around 2011. They replaced both the furnace and air conditioner with high efficiency matched units and dual zoned the house for them. After the install, it turned out they had done something wrong. We had a leak in the attic that damaged the drywall in our upstairs bathroom. My elderly (90+ years) mother had brower perform their ac "tune up" some time ago. When she turned on her ac on the first hot day of the year IT DID NOT COME ON. She called brower and they said they could make it out in "a couple of days." She finally got another company to come out and they quickly discovered that brower had not bothered to PLUG IN the unit after their "tune up." She was out over $200 from the second company. She called brower and was told that "someone would get back to her." NO ONE BOTHERE... read more
