I was so grateful to Buena Vista Hospice when my mother-in-law came to live with us in her final days. The nurses and CHHA's were amazing and so responsive! Our nurse spent lots of time with us explaining things and carefully looking over my mother-in-law. I never felt like the staff was hurried or treated us like a number. They offered light touch massage to soothe my mother-in-law. When I called with a question on the weekend, the nurse got right back to me. The medical equipment was delivered so quickly and was pick... read more

When my wife was terminal with colon cancer, I called in Buena Vista Hospice (BVH) on the recommendation of two RN's not affiliated with BVH. They turned out to be truly guardian angels. For her last three months, my wife was kept clean and pain free. Andrea, Diane and Josie always went the extra mile for us. BVH did everything they said they would do, and more. I feel fortunate to have made the right decision during a very tragic period. I would not hesitate to recommend BVH to family members or friends. I don't know what m... read more

My grandmother was admitted to hospice for only 2 weeks before she passed away. From the moment I first spoke with Beverly, I knew these people were angels on earth. Beverly came to the house with Ellen to get her admitted, they brought her an orchid, which she loved. The plant is still alive, and I am enjoying it now. Tina was our case manager RN, but we were visited by Shadey, and Alisha, the bath aide. Words cannot express my gratitude for these women. My heart felt so empty when my grandmother passed, but knowing the lev... read more

In July of 2012 my Mom started to feel ill, and losing a lot of weight. None of the Dr's could figure out what was wrong at first. She had pain in her liver, and after seeing many people they told us she had stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She had one round of chemo, then had a stroke the next day. My Dad and I tried to take care of her at home, but it got beyond what we could do. We only had 4 days with my Mom after hospice came. Let me say these people were great! Caryn the nurse, Sue the bath giver, and Maria the social worker... read more

This is the worst Hospice. My mother and I needed care for my father who was terminally ill. I hired Buena Vista and at first the staff seemed nice. That all changed. Once the forms where signed, the nightmare began. The nurses there have zero compassion. One of them, Paula is one of the worst nurses. I will never forget the time, when she came by to check on my father. She went into the bedroom and without saying a word to my father, ripped off his blanket, right in front of me, as if he's an animal. I was absolutely ho... read more

Jameson D. I have just read your review and would very much like to connect with you. I am very concerned about your complaints and truly very sorry that this was your experience with us. Certainly this encounter is not the way BV has served in the community since 2002. I would like to express my deepest condolences to you and your family. By far one of the most unprofessional nurses I have ever met. No compassion. She literally walked in and told me her only job was "to call mortuary and destroy meds."I cannot believe that lack of compassion. As my mother was on her final few weeks, she required daily visits. I told Buena Vista and they stated that were understaffed and she could not be accommodated. I cannot believe that in a person's last weeks I stayed with Buena Vista. Please before deciding on hospice care, choose a different, better company for your fam... read more

I am so saddened to hear of your experience with your mother on hospice and wish to express my deepest condolences to you and your family. I can assure you that this is not the way Buena Vista cares for our patients and families. We have served the community for over 19 years and we treat every patient and family during this most difficult time with care and the utmost respect. I am extremely concerned about your complaints and wish to understand the circumstances. I also want to acknowledge and agree wholeheartedly with y... read more

I would never select this hospice company. They came to my house to see my mother to determine if she would be in hospice. I felt they were only interested in signing her and I did not feel the nurse and social worker that came to clinch the deal were interested in my mother at all. I ended up choosing a wonderful hospice company called Vitas. Since I told other people about Buena Vista, they have shared similar stories. The caregivers that actually come to care for the people needing hospice maybe very good, but I could ... read more

Buena Vista is committed to excellence with every single patient that is entrusted to us. There are times when, for whatever reason, things do not go as hoped. While we are saddened to learn that our patient centered care did not meet your needs, we are very grateful that your mother got the services she needed. Patient and family needs being met in a very stressful time, is and always will be, the most important goal of Buena Vista. Thank You, Andrea Doctor

I believe the nurses at Buena Vista are angels, but the organization cannot handle unexpected problems. Our situation was difficult--my mom was dying ridiculously fast from a never understood or fully diagnosed cancer. Buena Vista's regular palliative doctor was on vacation, and the replacement was out of town, at a conference--the nurses had difficulty reaching her. The doctor and nurses were not able to recognize how quickly the horrible death was about to become. They have a formula that works for most, but not all. When ... read more
