This is a review of the business practices of this Coastal Kids location. It has no bearing on Dr. Brown. I would rate Dr. Brown 10 stars if I could. Dr. Brown is absolutely amazing and everything we could ever want for in a pediatrician, and we continue to recommend her to all our parent friends. This is despite how this practice is run, which is absolutely abysmal. We were on vacation in Newport Beach with our 2-year old, and he was running a high fever so we made an appointment at this office. I understand we were not regular patients, but even the receptionist was snobbish beyond belief and was looking down at us. They were overly concerned about payment, and not so much about the child. We ended up seeing the nurse practitioner who tried looking at our kid's throat, and stuck the stick into his throat so far that he threw up all over my wife. I LOVE the doctors here. BUT...THey need to revamp the office flow. When you call, it's a 10 min wait, when you come in, everyone is super stressed they are so busy, you feel like a number. You wait 1hr to get in a room, then another 25 to see the doctor. When you have small children this feels like an eternity. I am researching other docs, I'm hopeful they can't all be like this?
I am writing this review after a day of complete and utter disbelief of what the staff of this office did, or should I say didn't do. My 10 month old had a pretty severe allergic reaction to peanut butter in the morning. We had called the paramedics that morning because of increased swelling of the face, hives, and vomiting. An update to my previous review. So It's been 19 months since my son went in once to visit this doctor and his office. The billing issues were finally resolved I thought. No, now I see that just this month we've been charged for that first visit, again! I can't believe that this doctor's office is haunting me. I'm so much happier with the office we've switched to. Who knows how many hoops I'll have to go through this time to get the problem fixed. How can they bill you for additional amounts a year and a half later?!?!

We had gone to coastal kids for 7.5 years. Although some doctors were hard to see, we always got in when my kids were sick, 7 days a week. The waits were, at times, too long for kids, but it was a nice, charming office. Before my first daughter had her vaccinations I was concerned with too many vaccinations at one time (over loading her small body). Dr. Abelowitz assured me she'd be fine, it's routine. I can only give this clinic one star. When I made an appointment for my son I told the scheduler to schedule at 230 not 215. When i arrived at the clinic they told me that my son's appointment was 215. I told the lady in front no its suppose to be 230. Its now 340 and my son has not seen the pediatrician yet. Definitely won't come back at this clinic.

All of our four children have been patients at coastal kids. We are leaving. They have too many patients and their admin staff just doesn't care about the kids or their families. They promise call's to pharmacies that never happen, difficult to get an appointment and the staff acts as if you are a simply a commodity that they have no choice but to deal with. Is there a -20 rating? This is the most horrible practice I have ever visited with my kids: unfriendly, with very patient-unfriendly policies, and VERY long waits even when you already have an appointment. Who said that it's ok to keep a patient waiting for an hour or more? We have been to wonderful pediatricians before we moved to Orange County where we did not have to wait - because their practices were organized in a more efficient manner.
