Terrible Office Billing Policy! We have been with Coastal Kids for over 7 years now. Our personal Dr has been exceptionally wonderful! But beware of unsavory billing practices. We recently took my children in for their well checks. As a routine, the Dr. asked if there were any concerns we had. We mentioned that our 7 year old daughter seems to have eczema on her arms. This office is poorly managed. They have way too many patients. They just care about getting more patients in and out. The rooms are frequently dirty. The doctors have cancelled appointments at the last minute without even having the curtesy to call me. We have also had to wait over an hour to see the doctor that is with a regularly scheduled appointment. The doctors are always running way behind schedule. After 4 years we have had enough.

I've been to 3 of the Coastal Kids locations. The doctors are nice and competent and in that regard, it's a fine experience. However, only once have I seen a nurse or doctor wash his/her hands before touching my child. I've seen someone anti-bac about 3 times. Anti-bac is not as effective as washing your hands. I feel like a doctor's office should know this. My child or I have been sick after leaving there on 5 occasions out of about 12 visits. Correlation or causation. This review pertains to both our children's doctor, Dr. Abelowitz, the front office staff and the billing department which should be renamed "collection department". Tracey in their billing department couldn't wait more than 3 weeks for our insurance company to resolve billing errors and sent us to collection. That's right, less than one month, and this was after I explained that if the error was not corrected by our health insurance company, that I would pay it in full immediately. SO angry and frustrated with this Newport location. Despite the office being open, they were completely unable to accommodate us for a med refill that was totally urgent. I know it's a Friday after a holiday, but I was on hold for over 15 minutes, and prior to that, had gotten the run-around from the office exchange when I was calling the Ladera Ranch office. So completely unprofessional- their advice to me when I asked what I should do was, "I don't know..." You DON'T KNOW?? Great medical advice.

We have been taking our daughter to Coastal Kids for 10 years. Fortunately she is a very healthy child and rarely needs to see a Dr. for more than yearly physicals. I have to say that I am absolutely disgusted in the level of care and service from our recent visit to Coastal Kids Laguna Niguel. Our 10 year old daughter has a sinus infection for which she was prescribed an antibiotic. I will begin that we absolutely love our pediatrician with Coastal Kids. All three of our children go to Coastal Kids and we would have left a long time ago, if not for our Doctor. This review is for the office and the rest of our experience with Coastal Kids. The office is severely understaffed. Try calling on any afternoon and expect to be on hold for at least 30 minutes and disconnected. I like the doctors at this practice just fine (especially Dr Pelinka, who has unfortunately recently left) and do not want to switch to a new pediatrician, but the wait time is out of control. I have tried calling several times over the past week to make an appointment and every time I've ended up on hold for over 10-15 minutes and end up having to hang up. If it was once in a while it wouldn't be a big deal, but it's just gotten so bad. They need to address the issue and hire more staff or something. My children have recei... read more

My husband and I got referred to see Dr. Baron from our daycare provider, but unfortunately couldn't get in to see her and the only physician who had openings was Dr. Hoffmann.
