Here is my advice for everyone. If you're calling the plumber out to fix something, you're usually desperate for a resolution. They surely know how to work the system to get the most $$$ out of you. Have a camera filming everything on site and time everything. I won't even get into my story but long story short, they basically pretended to do something but did absolutely minimal and charged me up the a%%. I got another plumber to come out and confirmed that they didn't do any of the work they wrote up. Not worth suing f... read more

Business response:

Hello, I am sorry but I am unable to find any information about you or the scenario you are speaking about as you were very vague. If you can contact us at 847-509-9330 with more information we can hopefully find a resolution.

Excel defines a repair as coming out and performing work, even if they make it worse. Be very careful of their up selling. $550, becomes $925, becomes $1475. Then they want you to think its a bargain when they offer to reduce to $1125. Definition of repair - fix or mend a thing suffering from damage or a fault. 1. Called Excel to fix a faucet leak. We were told the job couldn't be scheduled yet and couldn't give a date, because they didn't have the part. I asked for part information, so I could supply the part and the pa... read more

Business response:

We are sorry that you feel this way, Steven. Our communication prior to proceeding with this work was to provide two reasonable options. Either to attempt the faucet repair by rebuilding the existing 2-valve shower faucet or completely replacing the existing shower faucet with a single handle faucet. Those were the only 2 options for your scenario. There was no way of knowing beforehand whether the leak was from the body or the rebuildable/replaceable parts. We can only offer the possible solutions based on our investigation... read more

Extremely unprofessional. Quote given beforehand was $250. When the plumber showed up the quote was suddenly $550. When we declined that quote we were asked to pay the $49 show-up fee. We also declined to pay that because they breached the deal. Furthermore the plumber showed up without a mask and didn't even take his shoes of. Extremely unprofessional. Update: The office manager called us after an hour or so to apologize for the behavior of his colleagues. He assured us that we would not have to pay the $49 show-up fee. To... read more

Excel has been used by our condo management company, for issues in our building, so I gave them a call to try and schedule an appointment for a leaky bathtub. Although there is plenty of street parking on my block, I was told they needed a guaranteed parking spot or they wouldn't come out. What kind of bougie nonsense is that?

DO NOT USE EXCEL PLUMBING! FIND ANYONE ELSE! I am sure everyone has good experiences and negative experiences with a plumber but here is my experience and you can decide if you want to risk this with your home: They did all the plumbing on my new construction home in 2018. In 2020, the water stopped coming to my top floor. They sent a plumber out to "inspect"...he just starred at pipes while I asked him if he wanted to actually look deeper and said "No, you need new everything on this floor". Next thing you know I get a CR... read more

I will start this review by saying that the technicians that came to install my new water heater were SUPERB. They needed towels to clean up after themselves and I provided ( should those have been brought? -I'll let you answer that) Now, to the meat of the reason why this review has only 2 stars. The angry person in me wants to give one but based on PRINCIPLE AND RESPECT I'm not going to give a trash rating just because I'm livid. I purchased the water heater for $1750. My old water heater which needed to be lit by lo... read more

Thanks Matthew! We appreciate your business and we look forward to being of help in the future. Best, Maureen

Very disappointed in this company. I called them to fix a plumbing vent that was leaking through the ceiling in my kitchen. The first time someone came for an estimate, they told me to call a roofer. I called a roofer. The roofer told me it was definitely a plumbing problem. I called Excel back and another plumber came out to look. He told me it was going to cost over $1500 and they were going to need to take out a huge section of drywall to fix the problem. I got a recommendation for another plumber in the area. I... read more

Happy to say that five years later, the $500 water softener is working great and the water heater is still working fine. Like the owner of Excel said, there can be many solutions to a problem. My gripe was they only presented their best / most expensive solution.

Business response:

I am very sorry to read about your experience from our free estimate. There are always many solutions to an issue. The plumber provided a free estimate for a solution that he felt would be best. Again we apologize that this was not acceptable.
