This review is for that dude I ran into today..Been using their storage services for at least 2 years..I come here all the time for my collectibles, and when I'm shipping items..my storage is at of a size, 12x12 and loaded with boxes from wall to wall, floor to ceiling..it was 1200 pm, DAYLIGHT..i came through the gate..parked my car..usually I start doing my work but at times when I'm tired I take a nap in my car to catch up with my energy..I just worked night shift, so it's expected that I'll be sleepy around this time..th... read more

This company unfairly raises the monthy rental price after gaining a customer's business and confidence. I called around for several quotes before choosing a storage facility, and they provided the lowest rate by far. Turns out that they then raise the rent by a significant amount every six or so months. I would have preferred to go with a local mom and pop storage facility had I known, which would have been cheaper in the long run. Beware of Extra Space Storage Increasing Fees Significantly! Go With Local Storage Company. When I signed the contract in July 2014, I was surprised to read that they could raise their rates anytime. This didn't seem right to me. When I asked the manager, Selma, about this, she said they rarely raise the rates. But, after only 3 months of paying the contract amount of $160, I was sent a notice that the monthly rate was going up $20. The rate increases every 6 to 8 months from the time your 1st months 6 months rental is over. No long term contracts. Not very competitive in regards to pricing thereafter. (i.e. - I noticed a different on-price for the unit that I was already currently renting. I called to inquire but the rep. said that because I was already a customer, I couldn't get on-line rate. You do NOT have to buy insurance, tell them you want to sign the opt out form for insurance, they have an opt out form standing by. If they look confused or look at you like you're crazy, just look back like they're crazy for trying to force insurance on you. Yes they reserve the right to raise your rent every 6 months, They will do so for at least the first two 6-month cycles. Started out great. The person helping me on the phone was helpful and was able to reserve my space with zero hassle. Told me reservation was good for 7 days and I can just go in and fill out the paperwork the day I'm moving in. The day of move in, I have my movers on their way and I just finished filling out paperwork. NOW they lay on me that they need me to purchase their insurance or they can't rent me the unit. This place is OK. It is far from SF and beware: they raise their price $10/month every year- this is not a good place if you are looking to store one year plus!!! I was frustrated with the graduated price increase because once your stuff is in storage is difficult and costly to move.

Very irritated by the fact that I cannot pay my bill online, over the phone or by the mobile app because none of these methods work. Up until last month I was paying my bill online and through the mobile app, but the website has suddenly stopped working and the app won't let you log in. I went into the location today in hopes of figuring out a solution to my problem, but was met with no solution. The woman I talked to had no options for me. I have had other storage units for years and I have never had the problems that I have with this Place. I was only told that the rent would go up at 5th month and 9th month by about 10 dollars. What they failed to say is that it is every 5 months and 9 months that the rent would go up. So I elected not to sign an arbitration agreement I was told I would have to move out in a month. Buyer beware these people are liar and cheats.
