Extra Space storage is a total rip off, have continuously raised prices. Started at $122 two years ago for a 10x15', i now pay $209. for nothing additional. it is called gouging with out guilt. It is just this simple, if you use them, they will continue rip you off until you stop renting from them. Horrible company
I would not recommend this facility to anyone. Not only was my rate increased by an outrageous amount just after being there 5 months my storage unit was broken in to. The surveillance videos were to be looked over to see if they could see who did it but apparently they were too busy to do this for me. No one ever got back to me regarding this. Very unprofessional. I don't even want to give one star.
As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. The most inexpensive 10x10 storage space we could find was here. After dealing with Extra Space many times, I was leaning towards spending an extra $150.00 to use a different company. Regretfully, I decided to give Extra Space one last chance. With limited choices in the area, I'm sure there are many others who are left with no other options than Extra Space. My advice to all is BEWARE. Carrie, we do charge a one-time administrative fee at the time of move-in. Insurance is also required for customers who do not already have homeowners insurance to cover their belongings. On May 8, 2015 I moved out of my storage unit. I was told that I would not be charged for the month of May which is set up on auto pay to be charged on the 8th of every month. However, the 350 was charged. I have called 4 times to get a refund. Each time they have a different excuse for not putting the refund through. As of this date, I have still not received a refund of 350.

Can we give them less than one star? Oh my gosh. It is only by having a monopoly over storage in the area that these people are even still in business. What is so amazing is that when you call they say "Extra Space Storage, how may I meet your extra space needs...?" But from there on, you are left in a sea of muck. They care about one thing and one thing only- MONEY. They will take every opportunity to get MORE money out of you and since they are storing your beloved belongings, they will kidnap them until you are force... read more
If I could give ZERO stars I would! First, yes it's the cheapest and lesson learned- The units are VERY OLD roll up doors that get stuck and are so rusted that you need two people to push them up, when I asked to have mine fixed they told me "Ya when the maintenance guys around"! Secondly 5 months after I moved my stuff in they raised the rates!! they charge much more for insurance than everyone else and they continually couldn't get the billing straight, so they would call relentlessly because "No one wrote your account ... read more
My primary issue was that within a few months of taking advantage of a web "special", my rent was increased 12%. I guess they assume most folks are stupid. Cost of living hasn't gone up that much in the last 7 years combined. Also, units not as well-constructed as my last cheaper unit up north. Sorry to hear that you're frustrated, Lynn. You're correct that your original monthly rate is not guaranteed for the life of your rental with Extra Space Storage. We do offer introductory rates and specials, but occasionally we will need to increase rental rates to keep up with the rising costs associated with providing top-notch service and a clean, secure facility.
A couple of years ago....before Extra Space Storage bought out the previous owner, we were paying $150 per month for a space. Since then we get at least a 10% rental increase and we are now paying $241. This is a national Real Estate Investment Trust that wants to squeeze every penny that they can out of consumers.
