We stored our furniture there for almost a year. It was clean, very accessible, and the staff was friendly. They did raise the price three times while we were customers though. My pet peeve with them now is we still live nearby. It is on our way home from working in San Jose and it is impossible to get there before 5:00. The sign says they are open until 5:30. Yelp says 6:00. We have arrived at 5:15ish several times now and there are cars out front but never anyone in the office. What's up with that??

I will not store my belongings at Extra space again. I chose them for the easy of access with with the drive way for the trailer I was pulling. The actual stay was fine but upon move out I found out I would not receive a refund for the last week and a half. Other places I have rented from I received a refund for any unused portion of the stay. When I called I was told that it was in the rental agreement. It stated in there in a way that is hard to understand as it talks about prepaying for the month, of which you do but you ... read more

If you enjoy rate increases three times a year, then this is your place. Is very clean, but sadly their shady billing makes for a mess that can't be cleaned by elbow grease alone. That takes stopping power like business ethics.

During a move to Soquel from San Francisco, I had to store all my personal belongings for 6 months as my new home was being finished. I was happy to find Extra Space Storage because it was so close to my home. Imagine my surprise when I returned after 6 months to find ALL OF MY BELONGINGS DESTROYED BY WATER DAMAGE. My $6,000 rug, all my personal art and paintings, boxes of personal items, destroyed. That "1 free month" was certainly a false economy. Big Plus - Super nice & helpful people on site during regular business hours. Bathroom available during regular business hours as well. The second floor units seasonally can get very warm or cold. They are less expensive than first floor units which maintain a more even temperature. For several days the strong odor from dead rats made it difficult to spend any time in the unit. I have had the most horrible experience here! Not only with the unit being invested with rodents and our belonging damaged and smell like the bottom of a rat cage that had not been cleaned. We were not notified of the issue, because they said it would take too long to email all the customer or make phone calls, in order to have the opportunity to protect our belongings. I stored many valuable items including furniture, blankets and clothes here for the summer. When I initially saw the unit it looked clean, but when I went back a few months later to retrieve something all hell had broken loose!! When first entering the building I thought that they were playing a sea animal soundtrack over the intercom system bc i heard chirping sounds coming from all directions. Rats destroyed several hundreds of dollars worth of furniture. We spend countless hours cleaning the urine and feces off of our plastic containers, which, thankfully, protected most of our stuff. Found two dead and one live one. The district manager offered no concession. We got out immediately.
