As David L. said in his review: "Decent in the beginning, but ***beware*** if your stuff is stored for more than a couple of months. Decent in the beginning, but ***beware*** if your stuff is stored for more than a couple of months. I find the staff at the location good. The only good thing about the facility is the location. I commend Extra Space management by requiring all issues be dealt with at the store level. Unfortunately with that responsibility does not come the authority to deal with issues. This building is about 10 stories tall and full of storage units. They have only a handful of carts. The location couldn't be better, that is why I am giving them the 2nd star. Unfortunately the staff are less than friendly, the hours of operation are lousy. Lastly, they increased my monthly fee by quite a bit this month. I'm starting to wonder if I should bother to move my items to another storage facility or just part with them.

I was very disappointed in the service I received from this location. The majority of the employees are very helpful with exception to one Assistant Manager. His behavior was alienating and when I complained to the corporate office their concern was more about my account being paid up, which it was. Even the hours are not very accommodating I was in a rush to find a spot. My experience with Extra Space started out with a lot of great potential. They have an excellent location on U Street, between 14th and 16th. I was able to reserve online and take advantage of a special for a free first month. That was the last thing that went well. I was moving from Portland, Oregon to DC and I was driving the whole way in a moving truck. I was about 20 minutes out of the city at 5:30 that day (a Saturday) and called ahead to be sure someone would be able to stay in the office so I could finish the paperw... read more

Horrible customer service!! Every time you pay to place your personal belonging is a storage you expect to have a piece of mind that your belongings are save and that the staff will take care of you. The staff is very passive and unprofessional. There is a lack of work ethics.Also, the hours are impossible for people that have a day-job. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place

(When Customer Service goes flying OUT the Window!!!!) Horrible experience, Horrible experience, Horrible experience, and Very Poor Customer Service!!!!!!! We had a mix-up with quotes, So, instead of addressing these issues, the ONLY suggestion was for me to moved my things to a smaller unit.!! I found the STAFF very useless in the help dept.

Horrible experience, they will foreclose on your storage unit without actually interacting with you. If you want a place that takes care of your belongings and does more than the bare minimum before exercising the nuclear option, go elsewhere. As a customer you expect basic things, like billing to be transparent and user-friendly. However, the company has an antiquated system in place with paperwork.
