This place "used" to be the best storage facility in SF. Has it changed hands or something? I moved in at $130/month - a couple of years later I am paying $208! The gates and everything used to make this place secure - now they are all broken and perpetually open. It used to be spotless - now there are bird droppings and smell everywhere. Maybe this is what happens when they get full occupancy?

I have noticed that most of the folks who have posted positive reviews only had their belongings stored for around a six month time period. My wife and I have a blended household but did not want to get rid of may of our items. We have stored our furniture etc. at this location for almost three years. in that time we have had the rent raised four times. The accumulated rate of increase is 60%!. We went from paying $203 to now paying $333. Same unit, same service etc. That is a 20% increase per year. Outrageous. Less... read more

I had a storage unit that had mice and it damaged my contents. The unit next to mine was used for food storage and the facility had rodent problems! Even after the constant extermination and pest control, Extra Space Storage would not reimburse me for damages or for free rent. The site manager had no control and the regional manager wouldn't help because I didn't have insurance. I am disgusted and I highly do NOT recommend this organization!!

Two huge rate increases in 13 months, a promise for a unit that woops they accidentally gave to someone else. Huge variability in actual size of units from advertised size. To top it off when I asked that they not do the second rate hike, especially given the error in not giving me the unit I was promised, the manager just kept quoting 'policy and procedure' and how sorry he was that he was 'unable' to do anything. I have been a customer for a year now and have been happy with the facility and the personnel. My rates, however, have gone up three times, twice without notice. This is not a good business practice nor full disclosure. Read the fine, fine print. They have now priced me out.

DO NOT USE! seriously your Sh*t is safer on the streets of SF than in this place! My unit was broken into, and those creepy f-tards refused to do anything about it, even with multiple complains and emails/calls to their customer service. Like tons of my stuff was stolen. Also, they seem to have a seriously MAJOR rodent problem and a bunch of my stuff, the stuff that wasn't stolen, had serious rodent damage...... seriously, this place blows.

**SCAMMERS** I AM SO FED UP WITH THEIR RATE CHANGES!!!! Reading complaints from other sites I see people saying they had 2 rate hikes in 18 months.... I just received my 5th (the 1st one only 3 months in) and I am done dealing with these crooks. What started out to be convenient and affordable has turned out to be nothing but a scam. DON'T DO IT!!!!

****DO NOT USE EXTRA SPACE STORAGE***** They are nice to you until you sign the renter's agreement. Then the service with a smile goes away. They WILL raise your rent after 5 months and again after one year. The facility is nice and climate controlled, but seriously....does your christmas ornaments, camping gear or whatever you are storing need to be warm at night. This place is a rip off and I took my business to Public Storage just down the street on Evans. I got a bigger unit with the same security for $20.00 cheap... read more

The storage is nice and clean and secure. The staff was friendly and helpful.... UNTIL you sign on the dotted line. The smile goes away, the rent increases in a few months and then after a year. And your AAA discount disappears. The economy is still struggling, the supply exceeds demand and there are plenty of deals out there. Shop Around!
