Extra space self storage company is SHIT. You shouldn't rent from them. They take over pre existing self storage company and verbally implement rules that work for them and not the renters. They up tenants rent so they can allow new renters to move in fee and rent free for the first mont. Then they tell us we are paying more because the previous business that existed was not charging use accordingly. BS. They gave me their word per the contact I entered into that rates may increase, but only once annually, and they would inform me beforehand. EXTRA SPACE lies right out the gate to get you to sign on. Not only did I get rate increases in the first 6 months but it has been very substantial, over $60 in a year. THIS IS DISGUSTING. The first month is not free, they sell you all kinds of things that you have to have. And then after they get you there they'll increase your rates after a few months. And if you don't want to pay it then you have to go somewhere else, much like our cable and cellular phone companies. Their customer service is very poor at best. Terrible company storage units exposed to the elements finding dirt and pest in mine. They say one thing and do another.
Scam. I have reported to better business bureau. Raises rents 50% a year after you move your stuff in. Then when you set up auto pay they don'r run and charge fees every month. They don't respond to complaints and are arrogant and rude when you ask questions about the scam fraud they are running. NEVER ever store your items with these frauds.
RAT INFESTATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely mortified. I have been renting a 10x20 storage unit for 18 months at Extra Space Storage on Cesar Chavez. I pay $540 a month for the unit....which is infested with RATS. Ridiculous all around. They are not very nice. They didn't prorate saying that because my payment already went through. So they charge me for the full month!! But if I leave early nothing will stop them from renting the unit and charging the full amount to someone else. GREEDY!!! Buyer be ware!!! They just do anything in their power to rip you off.
omgawd stay away from this storage company. shaaady!!! in one year my rent went from $45 to $77. so called corporate does zero and passes the buck off to the actual facility where the manager lies about being upfront with increases during the initial signing.....later did i learn this is common practice among this kind of storage service.. i rented from the extra space storage in yates road in victorville. the staff is unhelpful and inconsiderate! run the other way is my only suggestion.
My current storage unit in Gilroy, CA was recently taken over by Extra Space Storage. I received a email on 2/18/16 from Extra Space Storage explaining the transition. In the email, it said, "We are now sending payment reminder emails to all customers with an active email address in our system." Obviously, I have a current email on file since I received the letter about the change.
