The storage is nice and clean and secure. The staff was friendly and helpful.... UNTIL you sign on the dotted line. The smile goes away, the rent increases in a few months and then after a year. And your AAA discount disappears. The economy is still struggling, the supply exceeds demand and there are plenty of deals out there. Shop Around!
Most of our experience with Extra Space was pleasant. The first month free thing is, of course, less free than you might suspect after some fees, insurance, and a lock. There was one incident which really hurt the place in my mind. When we moved out an unexplainably irate employee started claiming he heard us "dragging things" as we were moving out.
