I would not give them a one star if it was an option! If your unit has not been robbed yet it will be soon! It's a joke of units frequently are robbed and same excuse from Oscar! Sorry! Sorry is definitely it sorry ass storage, sorry as team. DO NOT leave your things in this unit if you want to keep anything. This storage needs to be shut down, they do not care. If you are missing items please file a complaint and let's get rid of this scam storage. Oliver especially!!! DO not be fooled!!!

My storage unit at Extra Space Storage was robbed in early April of 2024. I lost a 35 year collection of very valuable things worth a great deal of money, as well as personal jewelry, rugs, and much more. The manager of the place, Oliver, called one morning to say he "discovered that my unit did not have a lock on it". No mention of any warning from their security system that my unit was open when the security system also knew I was not in the building. Odd that that was not mentioned. Extra space just took over management of 'a storage place' in carpinteria. They immediately raised my rent from $120 to $200 on a 10 x 10 unit. I have always paid my rent by a simple phone call. Now I can't get a person on the phone. I will be moving. More money for less service equals corporate greed.

Oliver is very helpful and has been in the past. My father has been a customer here for some years now. However, since the closure of the other storages nearby, many customers have come here and I've noticed the rates have gone up. Today, I was not too happy with my customer service with a man that was the Assistant Manager of this place. He did not do much in helping me get a better rate nor would make me want to stay at this company. Update: The rate hikes keep coming. It's been a little over a year since I rented my space and I am now paying over 31% more per month - with no end in sight to rate hikes. RENTERS BEWARE. Moving to a new storage space is obviously a total PITA = "this is how they get you".

storage is fine but after our first 5 months they increased our price by 20% and said they would raise it again every 8 mos. Very disconcerting. Buyer beware!

We rented a 10x20 unit in Kansas City. Initial cost was $130. I noticed they could raise raise the rates as much as they want. I asked and was told it would be 5% to 6% every six months. After less than six months the rate was raised to $182, a 40% increase. Called and asked why such a large increase, especially in a year like 2020. I got nowhere. Very nice and friendly staff with no authority to help with the huge increase.

* I rent a 5x5 ft space (all measurements are approximate). I know that my belongings will fit in a 4.75 ft x 4.75 ft unit * My belongings don't fit in the unit. I measure the unit, it's is 4.5 ft and 4 ft and 1 inch. * And here is the question... what does approximate mean? They raised my rent by 67% from the month before. They told me that the rent fluctuates from month to month. I do not recommend renting from them, and when I asked to talk to manager they had the district lead call me. They are so unprofessional handling their problems.
