While our server was helpful, it was simply too loud in the restaurant to hear anything. The food was pedestrian which, for Italian food in DC, is actually saying something. The Ravioli was drowned in olive oil and my shrimp pasta was bland. My dad ordered the pizza and looked like he was in a fight with it, since it fell apart as he was trying to eat it. He called it "the worst pizza I've ever had." And he's had a lot of pizza.
I ordered the lasagna and it certainly was not the traditional lasagna. It was an open faced mess with two meatballs thrown on top with two small globs of ricotta. My friend ordered spaghetti and meatballs. This order was what you would expect except that the sauce was horrible. The same sauce was used on the lasagna. Not a good meal at all.
The ambiance was good. The appetizers took long to come and it wasn't hot. Service was slow even though there wasn't a lot of people there. Our waiter took long to attend to us. I have a feeling he must've been new. However, the main dishes tasted great.
The food was terrible: poor preparation (spinach artichoke dip as filling for both ravioli and the calzone), no fresh ingredients and leaden. We will not be returning. Ever.
I ordered the Baked Ziti Bolongnese. It was without a doubt the worst meal I have ever had. My wife and son said the shrimp with pasta was O.K.
Seats you can barely fit between, got our apps but no silverware. Service slow. Food good. But dishes pulled up. The noise level so high. Sent one of our teenagers into a panic attack. Our party of 9 was treated like a party of 30. Will never go back. Food was good but not worth all that aggravation.
I liked the thin crust pizza, but they had run out of most of the starters by the time we arrived. We were served by the bartender who tried his best, but other than that - they seemed unable to cope with the volume of guests.
This was perhaps the most expensive and worst Italian restaurant that we have been it recent years. They did not have any bread. What Italian restaurant does not have bread. The crust on the individual pizzas was extremely dry. The open faced lasagna tasted more like Mexican than Italian. The prices were very high for this type of informal setting.
The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived. We sat at our table for at least 10 minutes before anyone approached us. The inattentive service continued. My husband had to ask twice for a new napkin as his was soiled. I don't know if we received "special" food preparations, but the Baked Zita Bolognese had only about 1 tablespoon of sauce on it, and was topped with at least 1 cup of cheese. Not very tasty, and certainly not Bolognese. My husband's oven-roasted salmon was marginal, at best, with the vegetables grossly unde... read more
