I decided to try Gene Juarez after hearing great things about it. Unfortunately, when I showed up for my appointment, the receptionist said, "Your appointment was cancelled. Didn't anyone call you?" She informed me I could still get my hair cut, although not colored, if I came back for the second part of my appointment. I was excited to get my hair done in Gene Juarez(Redmond) based on the suggestion of a colleague. I wanted to get a hair cut, a new look for summer. For starters, there was someone else's hair all around my stall and was not cleaned up probably after the service prior to mine. The stylist was friendly and even got me an energy bar since I was running around all day and had no time for food. However her styling was not great. I rarely get my hair professionally done, usually due to the price. But occasionally I'm willing to splurge & spend a pretty penny for a good quality cut/color. This time I made an apt for just a coloring. I am dyed blonde (naturally dark brunette) & had a good amount of grow out & a medium blonde that was a bit faded to a more yellow tone. I tried to give you another Chance Gene, I called to book an appointment just this morning for a cut and all over color and the little girl that you put at your front desk answering phones was extremely rude and beyond unhelpful. She talked to me like I was an idiot. Excuse me people that work in the service industry... you are supposed to treat your customers with respect, WE PAY YOUR WAGES! I used to frequent the Gene Juarez in downtown Seattle and loved it. So when I needed a pedicure and wanted a bit of a treat I decided to try the Redmond location. While my toes look fine, what was supposed to be a 60-minute service took 45 and it was a totally lackluster experience. I get a better, more relaxing and enjoyable pedicure for $25 at the local salon down the street from me. Way, way overpriced at $70.

My unfortunate retelling of the Gene Juarez experience begins with my wife's preparation for our wedding, which was held in August. She made a joint appointment to get her nails done with her sister a few days before the wedding, so their nails would look nice on the day of the event. Please avoid!! Too expensive... all show and no go. Came up from Arizona for a wedding and the bride suggested this salon to get a few welcome and necessary services done. On the road, I called and booked a spa manicure, brow wax and haircut with appointment taker Heather... and she was very patient and lovely!! But, it all went downhill when I arrived and felt like I was a heifer in a cattle call. Sit here, go there... get out of the way. Powered through all my appointments in record time. I will start by saying - this is a rating for the woman and manager who answered my phone call at what I found out is a reservation center, NOT, the actual Redmond salon. I have been going to this salon for years - Danae and Whitney are GREAT! I would highly recommend them.... Great hair stylists, funny, nice, and my haircut is always how I ask for them to be cut and styled. I brought a picture of the hair I wanted, the cut I got was not even similar. Not sure she even looked that hard, I think she was in a hurry to get more customers in. I don't care about tea or about robes and a fancy atmosphere, I wanted a great haircut and what I got you can get for 20 dollars at Supercuts every time.
