My friend decided not to use Hill Country Animal Hospital based on reviews at this site. We have loved this place and its staff for over 15 years. When our sweet terrier mix was dying, they came to our house to help her go. She was afraid to ride in the car. The doctor sent us a sympathy card and a little plaque with her paw print, and everyone there was so kind. Our English Setter is a patient of theirs now, and she loves them. I can't imagine using anyone else in this town.

I am completely shocked at the other reviews. Dr. Holcomb and his staff have never been anything but attentive, caring and compassionate with our beloved pets. Upon moving to Austin 5 years ago, we had to make the grueling decision to put our ailing 13.5 year old dalmatian down. She had been our first family pet, our first baby and losing her was heartbreaking. Dr. Holcomb and his staff were so good to all of us and even followed up with us afterwards to make sure we were okay. Years later, they have taken wonderful care o... read more

Gosh these reviews are scary. I go here all the time. Yes they are expensive, its Westlake after all, but besides that they seem to me to be professional and good to your pet. I always feel like they are giving me the truth about the health of my dog (and the treatment options) and trying to take good care of him. We also board here (a lot) and have never had a problem. In fact my dog is ok about walking up to the front door here where other places he would just stop walking, dreading having to enter the hateful vet/boarding... read more

I have been nothing but impressed with this place. It's like the full service spa for your pup! There are so many things they do right! They have a convenient drive up service to drop off and pick up your little animal. Our dog Samson goes there every few months for boarding and their set up is cool. They let the dogs play together all day long, and then at the end of the day, they retreat to their kennels to get some much needed ZZZ's. They also will give baths and make your dog smell oh so good right before you pic... read more

I brought my dog into Hillcountry Tuesday morning at 8 AM because in the last 48 hours, my dog was unable to walk or go to the bathroom, couldn't keep any of his food down, vomiting up water and his breathing was labored. By 3:30pm . I still had not heard from the doctor so I decided to show up at the office and sit in the waiting room. At 4:15 they carry my dog out into the waiting room - by the way which has a constant stream of people coming and going with their dogs and perpetually loud music blaring in the background.... read more

Sad to say goodbye. I've been a loyal customer for vet services and boarding for 8 years. I knew Dr Holcomb and thought the world of him. Don't know whether my recent issues are because of Holcomb's retirement or other reasons. Our dog has come back from boarding with kennel cough and twice has come back with bacterial infections. We just learned that boarded dogs are crated from 6pm until 7am, and no one is with the boarded dogs overnight. That's 13 hours in a crate! It's clear the bacterial infections are coming from our ... read more

Horrible service. Was given one price point by two different staff members. When it was time to handle payment, they began to up charge. I asked to speak to the director and they got me on the phone with a nurse named Karen who kept talking in circles trying to explain how it was justified and probably hoped I would cave. Eventually I asked to speak to the director and she told me she didn't have her number or email address. Then she told me she would have a manager named Meghan call me and they wouldn't charge my card until... read more

First off - We have boarded our dog (English Lab) here since she was a puppy solely because it is convenient, but they never fail to up-charge us on the littlest things and don't seem to care about anything but draining every last penny from you. Secondly, we boarded our dog a few weeks ago while we were on vacation for a couple weeks. She was 12, but in fine health and would be fine until we got back. Because of COVID, when we picked her up they just put her in the trunk of the car and we drove home. When we got home we ope... read more

Today we dropped our healthy family pet for a routine dental cleaning. We were informed that after this routine procedure our dog died. The volume of pets they are turning through this place is extremely concerning. We went inside to get our dog that had just died and the waiting room had multiple piles of feces in it. The staff was too busy to even deal with cleaning that up much less giving quality care to the pets they are treating. I would NEVER want anyone to go through what our family is experiencing today.
