Had brunch (Eggs Benedict's) which was very delicious. The good thing about the restaurant is the gorgeous patio facing kitsilano beach but we didn't get a spot due to the crowd. The atmosphere of the place was lively and positive. Servers were very friendly which made the whole experience pretty enjoyable. Overall, I would totally recommend this place for those looking for a chill brunch spot before heading to the beach!

Update: After my 1-star review for poor service, The Local's customer service staff contacted me and connected me with the manager to discuss my concerns. He assured me that this was, or should be, a very isolated incident. He invited me to come to the restaurant to discuss the matter. I obliged. We had a great conversation, some food and drinks, and I left feeling with more confidence in The Local, it's staff, and especially management's dedication to customer service. Brodie really cares. I don't know what the bad reviews are all about... We're from Phoenix, AZ and are living in Burnaby currently. Spent the day at the beach and in the Starbucks across the street. We were famished and the exterior looked fun. We had to wait maybe twenty minutes. It was Sunday afternoon and this place was lively! I'm a cyclist myself and when I first passed by this place, I was intrigued about it. The bright off-yellow bulbs that brights up the patio is catchy. It almost remind me of California-patio-by-the-beach feel to it. And I can't ignore those designated bikes hung up by the entrance. It screams like San-Francisco-lifestyle kind of restaurant. best fish tacos I've ever had! the environment is very laid back and prices are very reasonable. also have an amazing patio across from kits beach. one of my favourite places in the neighbourhood

Amazing patio....try to snag a spot if you can. Always good & cheap drink specials. Food is good too, much better than your typical pub food.

Local has a great location, vibe, and fish tacos. I used to think they had good burgers, but recently the bun has been super dry and the shredded cheese wasn't even melted on the burger. Still ate it, but for $14, you'd expect a little better. The patty is excellent and the burger was visually appealing but everything else was lackluster. I also find it surprising that the "go to" lager was Sapporo. First place we ate at while in Vancouver. The waitress was incredibly friendly and helpful. I have a dairy allergy and they were able to accommodate me with some really delicious food. The wings were wonderful, nice and crispy. A person with me had the big kahuna burger and said it was absolutely delicious and would want to go back again for it.
