VERY deceptive sell at the Bethesda Bar on 5/21/23. During wash the washer asked if I was getting special conditioner. I said no. At checkout same person said I should try the conditioner. She did not state the price. I was foolish enough not to ask price b/c I thought it was complimentary. I was a first-time customer and thought she was offering conditioner as a promotional item. It looks like a trial size. Please be advised - ask for the cost of everything in the salon before you buy.

Did not turn out ANYTHING like I thought. So upset and stunned I actually paid and left. She said I had to come back in two weeks to make it better. Will NEVER go back there. I need to find out how to get my $ back.

My colorist (Charelle? Charla?) and I discussed the color beforehand. I pointed out exactly what I wanted on the color chart, and she asked, "Well what if we did a little darker?" I said no, and said, "I do not want it any darker than this color. This color is as dark as I want it to be anywhere." She said, "Ok, we can do that." My experience at Madison Reed was just meh. It starts with their website. I wanted byalage done and to cover my grays, which is a two step process. Their website did not allow me to specify this as an option when I made an appointment online. When I came to my appointment the stylist explained to me that my coloring would take extra time that she had not anticipated, and she already had back to back appointments after mine. Go here if you want a three tone zebra dye job (see photo) which looks like I did it myself, BADLY. My experience kept getting worse and worse. When I arrived, they explained there was no receptionist, they're understaffed, and to just sit down and somebody would get to me which took about 20 minutes. The person I worked with insisted I needed a brown color which, after my roots, goes out about 2 inches in a red brassy color. I am not satisfied with the services received. I had an appointment for roots and blow dry and then added a gloss with Ms. Kaylor at the Bethesda location. I showed up on time and checked in then Ms. K did the color. Time for wash and then blow dry. Another employee Ms. Charlotte washed my hair. When I was seated in front of the mirror, I noticed color in my ears and on both sides of my face. I brought it to her attention, and she gave me the pads with liquid form a bottle to wipe it off. The salon is understaffed, the colorists are rushed. My balayage got forgotten so it set for much longer than it should and I had to remind them it was most likely done. AC broken. They tell you to go get your hair washed but then there is no one available to wash at the station so you end up standing there. My results were spotty with two big bleached spots that don't blend in in the back of my head. They tried to fix with more toner so had to get my hair wet again and dried again. the person doing the hair color did a good job. the same can't be said about the person who washed my hair and did my blow dry. I paid extra for the blow dry - it was a shoddy job. I am not happy at all. for the money and time spent , I would have been better off at another place.
