Mervis Diamond Importers is a family business run on old fashioned family values. Brothers Zed and Ronnie Mervis were trained in diamonds by their father Morris Mervis and they continue their legacy in the traditional way -- with honesty and integrity. Raised in the diamond center of the world in South Africa, they learned about diamonds at an early age. The brothers have always focused on quality diamonds and great value.

I'm a huge fan of Mervis diamonds. My boyfriend got my engagement ring from Mervis and it is amazing (I get a lot of compliments...). We recently went back for our wedding bands and the service was excellent. I briefly described the style of band I wanted and the sales person came back with 10 rings that matched my criteria. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about what she was showing us. Highly recommended!
This is a much better place to shop than Kay's or Zales or any of those places. The quality of their merchandise is MUCH better, and you'll get more for your money IF you know what you're doing. They carry a lot of beautiful designer brands like Tacori and Ritani, but also have more affordable lines. Their service is also very good. My fiance and I dealt with Gail and she was terrific - she even sent our EGL diamond to get certified by GIA when we asked, but still gave us the EGL price. With all of that said, there were a f... read more
This is the only way to shop for diamonds, hands down. My fiance and I had a really special experience here-exactly how I've been picturing my entire life how ring shopping should be! The best part is how VERY patient they were (I changed my mind 1000 times, and fiance' is super thorough). I think that's also why I loved the individual room service-I felt like I could take the time I deserved for such an important decision. It also makes it feel like I'm some famous ambassador or something (you know what I mean). Between my ... read more
I bought my wife's engagement ring at Mervis in July 2010 and our wedding rings there in February 2011. My fiancée and I visited many jewelry stores (Kay, Jared, Fink's, etc) in the Northern Virginia area and Mervis ended up having our favorite rings. They also had a great selection of loose diamonds with the cut we were looking for (asscher). I was impressed that they treated me with respect and courtesy when I was dressed in jeans and a T-shirt during our first visit. Our diamond specialist, Tina, was very attentive to our... read more
My boyfriend and I made an appointment for a Saturday in mid-December. Ashley emailed me a few days before to confirm the appointment--which I thought was really nice! She asked what styles I was interested in. I replied with links to 10 rings on the Mervis website, plus descriptions of what I was looking for in general. We arrived on time for our appointment. Ashley was with her previous client, so someone showed us to one of the consulting rooms. There we sat for 15 minutes before Ashley showed up. She apologized, saying s... read more
I started my search for an ER in April of 2010. I spent a lot of time researching diamonds and so when I went to Mervis I was pretty set on what I wanted out of a diamond. We met with Gail who was extremely helpful. Never did I feel like she was pushing anything on us and she definitely made me feel like I was choosing a ring for a lifetime and not one for a sale. Ultimately we picked a nice setting and an EGL certified diamond. I was not too confident in EGL so I asked Mervis if they would send it to GIA. I paid a refundabl... read more
Honestly, there is not enough space for me to really go into detail. I tried and receive an error message that I had exceeded the max characters allowed in the yelp review area. So here's the story in a nutshell... If I could I would only give a half start to Mervis. TOTALLY not impressed with their sales staff. They are cold and for whatever reason totally looked down on my fiance and myself from the start. The only real warm reception we got was when we asked to look at wedding bands that might match my ring and when I was... read more
In general, I would say this is a decent place to buy a diamond. They explain everything there is to know about diamonds, which is nice. My complaints are - you can't see a large selection of things in person before picking one you like, even though they will order samples for you (I did this). The reason this gets very low stars is because we were told that they were out of the size/quality diamond that we wanted, and one of the owners was going overseas to pick up a bunch of stones, so he would hand pick one for us. We pic... read more
I don't hate many things. I feel like it's too strong of a word, so I won't use it here. To be honest, I had a poor experience. My fiance and I felt like we were going to a car dealership versus going to buy our wedding bands. When we arrived we were put in a room to sit there for what seemed like 15 minutes before someone even came to acknowledge us. Once they did, they asked what we were looking for, we told them, they left the room. For what seemed like another 10-15 minutes (Mind you, it's now been almost 30 minutes of b... read more
