First of all, I must say TINA CLAERY !!! We were in the area looking for rings and stopped in at Tiffany's. I just wasn't ready to buy a ring and wanted to look some more. We walked up to Mervis and tried the door. It was locked and a guard was standing there. I'm not surprised at the low ratings. My boyfriend and I didn't have an appointment but figured we would stop by since we were in the area. I've heard their ads on the radio before and was curious to see their selection. The showroom gave me a very cold, corporate feeling. Rings are displayed on cheap plastic trays. My fiance bought my engagement ring here and they were extremely helpful and courteous to him throughout the entire process. I went back many times for sizing's and they inspected my ring each time and once replaced a baguette with a flaw for no charge and did it in record time so I could have the ring for Thanksgiving to show our families. We have also been shopping there for wedding bands and they are extremely helpful and wonderful to work with. Their prices are very reasonable and the quality is very good. This might be my best review ever. WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW: They certify their diamonds with the MOST LENIENT (EG-IL) certifications giving their diamonds better grades. There's GIA, EGL-USA, EG-IL, ordered from strict to lenient in grading diamonds. So EG-IL will be a lot nicer and say the diamond has a better quality than GIA will. This is where they get you. Our family loves Mervis! We bought my engagement ring there and have been customers ever since. When we first visited the Tysons store, I had a designer and look in mind. The sales associate listened to me and was able to get exactly what I wanted. After 8 years, the same person that helped us with my engagement ring, still remembers us when we walk in the door and even stays in touch. I've visited my share of jewelry stores recently looking for the perfect diamond engagement ring. None of them compared to Mervis. First off, I'll compliment the security. I've never felt safer, especially with all of the madness going on these days, you can never be too safe. I've been to a ton of jewelry stores in the last few months and this place is just totally different to anything I've seen before. Looking around at other stores it can be confusing to know the differences between rings and why some stuff is priced higher and some lower. Sometimes you look at a tray of rings and they can all look the same honestly. Decent selection on stones and settings. Prices are high here. Not Tiffany's high but if you look around their store, you can see, they have some serious overhead that needs to be passed along to the consumer. Sales reps were nice enough but we really didn't get an education. I found that their Platinum settings were astronomically high (like almost $5k for something with 2 side stones - I got quotes from many other places for like $2k-3k range)! Our son was looking for a specific setting and could not find it online or in a store. Mervis Diamond Importers at Tysons did what no other jeweler could. They delivered the dream ring he had in mind, in time for a perfect proposal at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in the Outer Banks.
