Never again! After two years I'm done with this hunk of junk. Worst printer I've ever owned. The ink print heads constantly need cleaning if you don't print something daily, which eats up ALOT of ink. The only good feature is the multiple sheet scanner. This printer isn't even worth donating.
This is the WORST printer I've ever had, avoid at all costs This printer has been nothing but an enormous headache since the day we got it. It's temperamental, finicky, and often REFUSES to connect to the internet even though I've put in the correct password a million times. The worst, most stupid design flaw is that it has no USB connection so there's absolutely no way to print if the internet isn't working, which is like 90% of the time. It’s ok BUT it won’t allow you to print if one ink is missing The printer is ok Eats up through ink like there is no tomorrow It will ask you to have the original ink but if you let it work on other brands it will give you problems. My biggest issue is that if you don’t have one color, let’s say blue, the printer will stop working ! Even if you try to print B&W it would not work . So you get stuck for no reason… Sucks Hope they will learn not to frustrate the customers :)
Print head issues do not improve with troubleshooting and uses copious amount of ink Printed fine for a little less than 2 years, now lines on the printings - colors and black. Self-help only improved it slightly. Support from Brother gave access to another level of cleaning for the print heads, which worked for a couple weeks, but after blowing though tons of ink to do the cleaning, the lines are back and I'm not going to keep dumping more ink into the machine for temporary fix. MY PRINT DIED QUITE WORKING AFTER I YEAR
Don't buy if accurate scanning is important I'm a filmmaker and I do a lot of hi res photo scanning. For whatever reason, this Brother printer/scanner shifts the image red when saving to jpeg. At first it scans it accurately, and saving as a PDF preserves the correct color. But saving it to tiff or jpeg shifts the image red. Unacceptable. So one must save as PDF at top resolution, creating a giant file, and then converting to jpeg through extra software. HUGE HASSLE. Don’t waste your time Terrible setup
Works half of the time It sometimes says it cannot detect the ink cartridge and refuses to print anything.It refuses to print if any color is depleted even though I never print color. It refuses to print anything and wont print black and white because It constantly says it cannot detect the yellow color cartridge even though the yellow is installed and it was working fine last week but suddenly cannot detect yellow this week and now I can’t print anything in black and white.
Great printer but the remote operation is not good The printer works great when I'm printing wirelessly from my Microsoft laptop but will not print from my iPhone. I had no problem printing to my HP printer from my iPhone. Unfortunate because I do like the printer otherwise but overall, I would not recommend.
