I was told by a representative/plumbing technician from Mike Council plumbing, almost within minutes, that a small puddle/leak at the side of my house was coming from cracks/leaks in the pvc pipe and it all needed to be replaced right away with copper...for over $20,000! I had two more plumbing companies/plumbers come, one of which was a leak detection company ( that had helped my friend and her husband very well with their leak issue) and they all said I didn't have a leak/crack and said I was definitely being taken adva... read more

Water Heater Replacement was way overpriced but we were desperate without hot water. I would not recommend this company based on their pricing.

While the workers at this firm are great and do their job, the owner was not unfortunately. This firm helped replace a water heater at a house of ours with a tenant who had a baby. Note: they had installed the initial heater too which broke down within warranty period (hence called same firm but wont hold this plumber for unit failure). Now the installation service cost charged was much more than the unit cost which given it was weekend we accepted to make it right for tenant who had to live in hotel with baby. Needed our laundry drain pipe replaced as it was failing, the quote we received from MCP was 5 times higher than the other quotes we received. MCP also told us that we were in need of a full house re-piping, even though we had not had any issues. I had the other plumbers quote and review the condition of the existing pipes when they were quoting the laundry drain. Both said we were not in need of a full re-pipe. Total bait and switch. Promised me work would be done and then after we agreed to price, they tried to claim that they never promised certain things (replace corroded pipes and valves) were part of the deal. I recommend going with a more honest company.

I'm a house Manager for several families. I handle home repair appointments (setting them up, being there for the appointment, payment etc). Mike Counsil Plumbing unfortunately wouldn't work me...they wouldn't even speak to me or answer any basic questions. I explained I had homeowners approval and was hoping at the very least to schedule a walk through so I could give the homeowner an estimate. We contacted Mike Counsil for some troubleshooting. The inspection report stated: Discovery/Additional Discovery: client has washer drain line not draining suds when washing. A lot of suds build up and spill on the floor. Home is brand new. MCP also found that laundry drain configuration does not have clean out access per code. The proposal was to remove the sheet rock from around the washing machine to troubleshoot the issue. We got a ridiculously high quote of 30k for what cost us $2,400 with someone else. When asked to scale down the scope to what we wanted (not a complete overhaul of our entire sprinkler system), we were quoted $2,500 just for an electronic diagnostic test plus whatever work would then be required. The whole approach felt like a scam and a business trying to take advantage of home owners in need of help. Would never recommend!

45 mins to give me a quote that's 5x the cost of a $2000 heat pump water heater, don't waste your time with this company. The person who comes out to give you a "free" quote gets paid either way, i.e. it costs these companies $200+ for them to come out and give you a "free" quote. They could have saved lots of time and money by asking for a bunch of pictures / measurements and just given a ballpark estimate via email / phone.
