I'm a house Manager for several families. I handle home repair appointments (setting them up, being there for the appointment, payment etc). Mike Counsil Plumbing unfortunately wouldn't work me...they wouldn't even speak to me or answer any basic questions. I explained I had homeowners approval and was hoping at the very least to schedule a walk through so I could give the homeowner an estimate. We contacted Mike Counsil for some troubleshooting. The inspection report stated: Discovery/Additional Discovery: client has washer drain line not draining suds when washing. A lot of suds build up and spill on the floor. Home is brand new. MCP also found that laundry drain configuration does not have clean out access per code. The proposal was to remove the sheet rock from around the washing machine to troubleshoot the issue. We got a ridiculously high quote of 30k for what cost us $2,400 with someone else. When asked to scale down the scope to what we wanted (not a complete overhaul of our entire sprinkler system), we were quoted $2,500 just for an electronic diagnostic test plus whatever work would then be required. The whole approach felt like a scam and a business trying to take advantage of home owners in need of help. Would never recommend!

45 mins to give me a quote that's 5x the cost of a $2000 heat pump water heater, don't waste your time with this company. The person who comes out to give you a "free" quote gets paid either way, i.e. it costs these companies $200+ for them to come out and give you a "free" quote. They could have saved lots of time and money by asking for a bunch of pictures / measurements and just given a ballpark estimate via email / phone. My experience with Mike Counsil Plumbing was a frustrating mix of unprofessional responses, unreturned phone calls, and buffoonish communication failures. I would never use them again. This was a simple job: I asked Mike Counsil Plumbing to install a handheld shower faucet and grab bar for my 99-year old mother-in-law. Large company and the plumber that came was still in training and doesn't even know how to replace a bathroom vanity faucet by himself. Price was 3 to 4 times what a local independent plumber would have charged. I can't recommend MC to any of my family and friends. They seem to overcharge and underdeliver on their work.

This is the 2nd - and last - time I use Mike Counsil Plumbing. They replaced my toilet (feel like it was a lot - $1,300 for a Kohler - but whatever), but did not get my dishwasher in operable condition. They just replaced the air gap, tacked on some other mystery fees, and left me with a still-inoperable dishwasher and a $500 bill. We used Mike Counsil for a quote on a home repiping, and I have to say, the whole experience was nothing short of outrageous. I get that sometimes contractors throw out a high quote when they don't want the job, but this was absolutely egregious. I just called to check if they are available today since my toilet looks clogged. The lady answering the phone never gave an answer immediately, and kept asking me provide all the information. Even when I made it clear that I need help today as out toilet is clogged, she kept ignoring the question and repeated like a machine for all my info.
