The location and building are quite lovely however we were quite disappointed with the food in that the reputation was very high. My father's prime rib was in Ormus and as tough as can be. My duck confit too many combinations of textures and flavors. There was a white sauce circling the dish that I have no clue as to what it was. It tasted much like vanilla. Considering We had a purposefully long dinner by the time we left it was pretty empty and still had trouble having our waitress take our check. In addition you have to w... read more

They didn't have 2 appetizers listed on their lunch menu nor sweet potato fries. The waiter should at least let us know prior to us ordering.

Sorry to say, I was disappointed in the food. I was treating my friend for her birthday. She seemed to enjoy her burger. I order the bouillabaisse and found it tasteless. Given your reputation, I was shocked.

We arrived at the restaurant on time to celebrate my wife's birthday and were told we had to wait for our reservation time to be seated. Another family was there at the same time without reservations and they were asked if they would sit in the Tavern, they said yes and were seated. We waited ten minutes and the Hostess escorted us and seated us in the Tavern instead of the restaurant at the table next to the people who did not have a reservation. We were told that there was a party that ran late and they could not seat us i... read more

Went for mid-week dinner during Long Island restaurant week. Husband enjoyed salmon and chocolate cake. Pea and asparagus soup was very bland. My swordfish was tough and salty. The bread was hard, cocktail "special" with blueberry and bourbon was terrible. Waiter was pleasant enough, but service was very, very slow. In addition, Water provided at table smelled and tasted of chlorine.

We went to The tavern during Restaurant week and they were totally unprepared for a crowd. Our waitress was very nice but we could never get her attention and non waiters were on the floor serving. It was a service disaster. As for food, my mussels were undercooked and I could not open 16 of them. The Osso Buco was dry and bland. I have eaten here many times and enjoyed my meals. This night was a bad one.

Atlantic char and prime rib was delicious but the beef ribs were dry and untasty. I was surprised at how inattentive the waitstaff was for a so-called high end place. No one filled our waterglasses until I had to flag one guy down. He filled two glasses, then took off with out filling the other two. Other than to quickly bring our food, no one checked on us, even as I tried to get someone's attention about one of our dishes. I was disappointed by this treatment. The food was acceptable for this price range ($25-$45). I do li... read more

We sat at a table where the roof leaked and one of us got wet. They moved us to a different table after a while and brought us small portions of the first courses with their judgement of how much we had already consumed. My guess is their original chef, Mr. Guy was not around. Quality of the foods were deplorable, the only acceptable dish that evening was flat bread mushrooms. Hope they get their acts together soon. Lest their reputation will be gone.
